increase hitting range

Is it possible to increase the range in hitting a mob? it seems like i practically have to stand on a mob to hit it its even harder when its running away from you. any feedback would help thanks :)

When he's running away, use strafe (CTRL + left/right) and make your character always facing a bit in front of him. Works like a charm for me.

yah that works for me as well...it was a major bugger before figuring that out. This will probably be better when/if they update the pathing...but it was always a pain in Live as well.

I can't find the post, but I'm almost positive Melwin said this is clientside and there is nothing that can be done at this point in time.

melee range is based on the mobs height i belive... so, if your hunting a beetle, its hit range is small.. but if your hunting a gnoll, its more 'normal'

i agree

Hitting a human sized mob, you have to be inside their model to hit them, and even then its neigh impossible.

Increasing the hit box would certainly be the most noticable improvement I could see in this game so far, for melee anyway ;)

I've had to be pratically in front of them & hoping to hit as they run by. I can't see how this is a client side issue when it wasn't a problem on EQLive.

This is one of the reasons I'm leaning towards playing a Necro. Spells which I can cast anywhere & let the pet workout the problem.

The hitting range is not really an issue when the creature aggroes. If it aggroes it will get at a perfect hitting distance for you. If its a non-aggro moving mob... thats tough sometimes, I can vouch for that.

That works great for pulling, but doesn't help when the mob starts running at low health (if no snarer is available). That could use a LOT of arrows. Or daggers for classes who can't use a bow.

something else i noticed this past weekend about melee ranges, that kinda erked me.

It seemed to me that the normal melee range (autoattack) was larger than the special attacks (Backstab, Flying kick, Tail rake, etc)

Now, if I were to get a message saying 'you are to far away' then, no big deal, i would get closer.... but, I would not get that message, The button would grey out, and the skill would not attack. Now, if I would move slightly closer, the skill would attack.

This wouldnt' be a big deal, but if a mob is able to attack me, I would think that those special abilitys should be able to hit.

Thanks!

I haven't really noticed this with the special attacks themselves, but I have notice it for the procs off of the monk special attacks.

For instance, if I want to root a sand giant (dragon punch), I have to get right up next to him for the root to land, instead of hanging back in the normally large melee range.
