Dalayan Master
Holy Days are a really interesting bit of flavor and occasionally gameplay fun, but they happen very infrequently- 14 days out of 365 or less than 4% of the time. That got me thinking:
Why does Dalaya have a 365 day year? I mean, other than being a lazy copy and paste of Erff's year (minus .25 days, .249- whatever)
Why is the Dalayan year divided into 12 months named after Roman gods/stuff? I mean, other than being a lazy copy and paste of Erff's Gregorian calendar.
Why are those months named after nonexistent Gods (I mean, more nonexistent than usual) divided into weeks with days named after similarly unheard of Norse gods? You get the idea.
24 hour days? Actually that's probably a reasonable concession since time of day is already weird- the known world is all in one time zone (which means Dalaya must be pretty big and unexplored) and the Gods apparently really like that particular time zone... or maybe Dalaya is flat?
So, I guess where I'm going here is wouldn't it be swell if Dalaya had its own calendar? This is a feature of many great fantasy worlds and adds a bit of flavor and could be manipulated to increase that 4% up there. The sky is the limit. We want 10 day weeks- nobody can stop it. Somebody designs an 1100 day calendar where every day has its own name- pedal to the metal bro. 7 months of 7 weeks of 7 days- hey that's easy to remember! [edit-] If you have an idea for a calendar please share. This could be a good opportunity to shine light on existing lore or even create some vague pseudolore- i.e. "the months were named after the first kings of men whose history is lost to the ages, but names are still know to all".
LESS WORK ALTERNATIVE: Come up with a bunch more Holy Days. There is no reason that each of the Gods can only have one day.
Can this even be done- who knows?
Will it be- probably not.
Is this an interesting chance for people to think outside the box what with the single pantheon of gods, multiple irl defunct calendars to draw from, and no rules- maybe?
Is there anybody out there- just nod if you can hear me.
