Specifically Ring of the Betrayer from a VD (iirc) map but it may effect others.

I was hoping this ring could revert to its original form, when I first got it ages ago, I was able to Illusion: Dark Elf anyone in my group or raid. Somewhere along the line it was changed to Self only.

I know its a minor request but it would make me smile if it could be reverted. It used to be alot of fun to have DE pets on raids but the item has collected dust since the change for me.

I know some rings that drop from lower lvl maps do not carry a self only restriction so I have to assume that the change in this one was simply an oversight.
 
I thought all of the items were meant to be due to the enchanter fights that occurred over that earring with hundreds of innocents being gnomified. It is pretty annoying imho to have anyone illusion me without my permission and I get angry when people mention that mask from PAW trying to peddle it on the fact that it supposedly does.

Regardless of being in the group or not its annoying for me and I am sure someone else dislikes it too.

Wow you have to sometimes click a buff off of your bar? You have such a hard life.
 
I dont want this to become about OMG I was randomly DE'd by a wizard and now im gonna cry. It was sad enough that one or two bad apples had to spoil most illusion items for everyone instead of those people being directly punished, this isnt about that.

This is about reverting a ring to the way it was. I was never able to to do drive by DE'ing on folks like the infamous gmone incidents, it was group and raid only.

This thread is not about if you like or dislike Illusions.
 
The illusion issue was solved by making them raid and group only, thats not even the issue here for why the ring was changed.

There may be some other weird reason it was changed
 
I think I misread the first post , sorry about that; Maybe it is so other players cannot perform a enchanters job and allow people that arent rogues and bards to sneak into grobb illusioned or something?

I dont really know I just like to post ; again sorry about the shitty first post I was not very coherent when reading it for some reason or another.

I was under the impression that this ring was self only though.

For example the rogue wants to get his hood and needs to kill the coordinator but is totally gimp and cannot actually kill her nor sneak in there for whatever reason, Only way for this to happen is invis with a buddy or get a illusion but since hes totally gimp he cannot get the mask due to gimpness of extreme measures. He is also afraid of everyone else except his buddy who happens to be an enchanter. The enchanter loves him and gives him the darkelf/troll/iksar illusion and helps him go back and kill the coordinator.

The enchanter gets fulfillment and the antisocial gimp of a rogue is happy with his new backstabbin hood.

(assuming the DE ring is all/all) then he could just get a random warrior to right click it after clicking the invite/follow button. There is probably some other bigger issue if it was legitimately changed for one but you know I thought I would point out the gimp rogues and enchanters having friendship.

Also @Whoever said something aboot the buff clicking, Boohoo I cannot see the halfnaked darkelfs in a raid/group anymore :mad:

Its kind of a weak point but I still think its a valid one.
 
Some illusions change faction as Iae pointed out. I can see this for being the reason for changing it. However, clicking human on people so they are blind is pretty A+.


Sucks for them to click a buff if they want to see again. :psyduck:
 
Both the rings were intended to be self only. I overlooked the fact that I databased the dwarf ring wrong because I was too lazy to change it after it had dropped, and I didn't really think it was a big deal either way.

I didn't realize anyone had seen the DE ring drop! I don't really have a problem with the DE ring being target/clickable but I can't do any database changes at the moment. I'm having issues with mysql and vista that has put my item designing/editing on hold. Vista hates me. :(

If another dev wants to fix this that's cool, but otherwise it will have to wait till I can figure out what the mysql/vista issue is (same goes for that charred banded belt aug slot fix that has been on hold for the last month).

I dont mind waiting at all, I loved this ring when I first got it, and am just glad I will be able to use it again....sometime :)
