Ikisith for Dummies

Hello,

So, a while ago, I did the "stowaway" entry quest for Ikisith. I figured that upon arriving there, I'd find a relatively hospitable area where a NPC or two would help me get the hang of what was expected of me, especially since this continent is supposed to be rather quest-heavy from what I've read. Surprised: I ended up surrounded by KoS mobs with absolutely no clue of what I was supposed to do or where I was supposed to go.

And now, there are often pick-up groups forming for various Ikisith related business. I've never joined one because I have no effing clue what they're about, if I need to do a specific quest or get a specific flag before taking part in a given event, if I'll end up hunting something that will ruin a faction I don't want to ruin because of my class/deity/MQ faction/whatever, or if I should even entertain the notion of doing anything of worth in Ikisith before having enough AAs to warrant a "+" after my "65".

So please, take me for a dummy for a moment and tell me what an Ikisith newbie should know before going there...

The stowaway event is a way to explain how the player gains access to ikisith to begin with. Aside from the alignment hit during this, its just for flavor and back story purposes.
Once completed you're going to be set in PROPHET'S LANDING. This zone will be populated by Baldakans, who inhabit the docks. Basically Kaezul henchmen. You will be killing them in the future for Runic spell scrolls. Faction with them is not important because, well they're allies with SoD's primary enemy.
To the north you'll zone into the Murk. This is a zone full if Gruploks. You will want to avoid killing them, because they are "good guys". They have quests which result in gate clicky to Murk, Murk spell (varies by class), flavor items (gruplok swimmers), and other important stuff. You need to start the quests with Gruploks by making them non KoS. I forget the name of the NPC who begins it all, utility it's on the wiki. Its a simple quest, can be boxed or one grouped. Will make Gruploks dubious to you. From then on you can get ports to he Murk, bind there and the Remnants of Old Ikild (good experience zone to the east in Murk).
In prophets landing you can zone into Dreadlands, on the west side on zone. It is more or less a quest and connecting zone. Noteably there are NPCs very far north part of the Refuge faction. They are who will be progressing your Main Quest line. In order to begin working with them you need to do another Hatesfury event, and finish your faction Aug (blackscale, silvercrown, coi) . Progressing them gives you similar results as murk. Slave spell, clicky gate, etc... difference being that once you get some faction you can turn in tomes here for tokens. The tokens can be used to purchase class 1 and 2 tomes.
those are the really the factions I know of to ensure you avoid damaging. Everything else is kaezulian sympathizer.
Hope this helps at least a little.
