We've had a lot of problems with the EQEmu loginserver and has therefor decided to put up our own. We haven't been able to get hold of the old password db before now, but now we have, hence everybody should now be able to log in.
The EQHost looks like:

Guide to changing it:
1) Direct yourself to your EverQuest folder (not patcher, but the actual game folder) and locate your EQHost.txt.
2) Open it with an editer (wordpad, notepad etc.) and change the entire content to:

[Login Servers]

}
3) Save it and close it. Then make right mouse click the file and select properties to make it read only.
4) Run the game through WR patcher as usual. Happy Hunting.

Known issue:
As of currently you can't create new accounts on this loginserver, but we will try to get that fixed as soon as we can.
Report any other issues here.
 
Okay, I've done this, but now when I run the WR patcher it tries to download a new eqhost.txt and hangs. It doesn't matter whether my eqhost.txt is set to read-only or not, it still hangs.

Any thoughts? I'm not sure what other information would be helpful.
 
If your patcher is broken, then just run EQ around patcher (by running it directly through EQW).
 
I figured out what I had done wrong. I changed the eqhost.txt file in the wrfiles/ directory. (Which you said not to do. Can I claim temporary impairment of reading comprehension?)

So I made sure the wrfiles/eqhost.txt file was back to it's prior config, which was this:

and the everquest/eqhost.txt file was as you described above.
 
i no im goin to sound like a newb but mine is freezing up ....i did what it says but it seems to keep happening...can somone plz describe it a little more for me plz
 
so pretty much us guys that could not play before due to bad name and pass still cant play.
 
did as you said, changed the file, saved, right clicked and set to read only, now im getting error 1001, i did patch right, i put file right in eq file, and ran it got 77 new files and such, its probally due to the fact that you said that there is a problem adding new accounts, this is the solution i have been waiting on for days, now ill have to go back to ff7 and wait a bit more, see ya in a few when this gets all worked out.

That's incorrect. The people who has registered their account from the 29th to a few days ago will be able to log in, which they weren't before. This means that basicly all existing accounts are able to log in, which they weren't before. New accounts won't be able to, but we're working on that.

Hi All great game sofar that i saw before the problems.
I am still unable to login (bad username.password)
I have tried every thing listed on this thread but have not been successful.
My acount was created sometime in early january, but it just does not respond.
Any help would be welcomed.

well if thats true, then why did i just get error 1001 a few hours ago, from what i read that means i did not patch right, but every time i run the patcher in the everquest folder it does not download files, it did the first time i downloaded somewhere around 77 files, could it be that at the time it was down?
 
1001 = You can't connect to the login server. It has nothing to do with your account name/password. Either your EQHost is wrong or your firewall/router/* is bloking it.

eqhost? im quite sure its right, i copied it right from what you had up there, ill check my firewall.

i completely turned off my mcafee firewall.

eqhost.txt reads the above, everything was right, i think, and i still got 1001.
 
Well, if you write wrong password/username you get:
EQEmu Error: Bad username/password

I think this was fixed after we moved to 0.5 but try removing the spaces in your eqhost so there's no space at the end of any line (if there is that). If that doesn't work then it must be problems at your end.
 
Well i finally got in to the server kinda. WHen I try to get into the actual game I get the 1017 error. SOmething about having Luclin installed but it's not working... something like that. If I use ADVANCED on the EQLive patcher to redownload luclin's files, run the WR patcher, change the eqhost to the new thing would that fix it?

Btw, does it matter if I only downloaded the eqtrilogy and updated using only WR's stuff prior to this? I didn't update to live cuz I thought it might do something wrong. Also, if I DO patch to the current verison of live and get DoN, would that cause me to be unable to play on WR?
 
UPDATE: well i did some crap, and it loged in, went through news, then got to server list, and THEN i got error 1007 or 1001 i forget :) well anyway, any idea bout this? also it was lagging like crazy, i never had probblems like this on live, so any idea whats with the lag.
 
Ok I ws having that very problem of a username/password error so I went and made the changes this post sudjested and now when I get to the login, and enter the login/password I get a error message about: Error-A time out occured.
