I think the Server and / or my computer want me to not play Game

For the entire weekend I have not been able to log into the game.
(1) I can get to the connect screen.
(2) I can input my Name/Password into the Login Screen,
(3) I can see the number of players on the SoD Malath Server.
(4) But when I hit "PLAY" I have been getting the following error messages ~

eqgame.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

my current attempts to solve have included FULL PATCHES (3-4), minor patches (10-12), erasing files.txt more times than I can count.

Anyone have any idea what I should do next besides not play the game?

NEW ERROR:

Error 1017: Cannot login to the EverQuest Server.
You may need to re-run the Update Patch. Repeatedly seeing this message
indicates a loss of connectivity to the Patch Server. This is usually temporary.

these errors are somewhat common. you'll just have to keep trying. at least thats what i did when i was having the issues when i first started. i just continuously tried. and eventually the exe. error stopped. but i get 1017 on occasion.

you may want to look at the fresh install post and make sure you have everything correct.

I tried, and tried everything short of going to find a copy of Titanium, then tired and got a copy which solved one problem with the complete re-install, but due to my lack for forethought has me now re-entering all my hotkeys, and repositioning all my pop ups to where I want them.
