I play a warrior, friend plays a cleric. Suggestions on 3rd class for 2 box?

My friend and I are having a good time with the warrior/cleric combo. I was thinking about adding a 3rd class to our regular group via two boxing. I was thinking we could use some utility and dps. I was curious to what you would suggest for the 3rd class? I have thought about a bard but not sure if it would be fun to do with the constant weaving of the two songs while trying to two box. I have also thought about a monk for the dps/pulling. My friend suggested a wizard for dps/ports.

We get pretty beat up quickly and he has to set a lot. We are new so we are not twinked or anything. I also think I may have messed up my specialize points but going blade/strike first. I was a little unfamilar with the new editions to the game but overall I really am enjoying the server. Very well made!

I think a necro would add greatly to your group. Beastlord would be cool as well.
Or an enchanter, if you are up to the challenge of charming for DPS. You would also have an excellent group basis wherever you'd go.

Bst or necro would fit rather well with those 2 classes.

If your looking for more buffage/healing/dots adding a druid or shaman would also add a lot to your group.

A bard would have slows, mezzes, DS, haste and more. They are absolutely the best utility class. Next to that I would say a Shaman for buffs, hastes, slows, debuffs. Lastly, I would say enchanter for haste, slow, mana regen.

For best fun and ease of grouping....make a Shammy. You will get buffs...SLOWS (a must) and that all amazing loving buff....SOW. Plus the shammy can patch heal and DPS to boot when needed.

But the main attributes you will get from shammy is Slow and Sow.

In that state of mind, a beastlord would add way more to th egrp (slow, haste, minor buffs, DPS).

Enchanter, Shaman, Beastlord, Bard

Slow is huge. I put enchanter before shaman because CC is nice also.

In this combo Bst over shaman I would say. You already have heals covered and bst has better DPS then shaman, with brining buffs and slows (granted not as good as shaman)

If it's between a shaman and beastlord I say shaman.

If you're comparing them, compare throughout the game and not just "At 65 they have this..."

With a shaman you get your first slow at level 5, SoW at 9, first regeneration at 14, and first haste at 29. At 34 you get a pet and hp's that stack with the cleric's.

For a NEW group just starting out having all of those abilities early on means you level a lot faster.

I'm not putting down beastlords, but they are a far cry from a shaman. I'm not even counting all the other stat buffs that shaman gets early on or the DoTs.

Later in the game the line is blurred a bit more as far as slow is concerned, but early on shaman wins out in the group.

EDIT: My second choice would be druid for ports, SoW, regen, DS, nukes, DoTs... If you can live without SoW or ports, I'd say Necro, Mage, or Beastlord (who also gets SoW, but at level 30). Crowd control is overrated until you get pretty high in the game. For exping it's not a big deal really.

I don't think it's as cut-and-dry as that. Beastlord pets are very tough early on; they have good mitigation and lots of HP, so they can tank adds with very little trouble. At the same time (early game) slows are less relevant. The roles of the beastlord and shaman don't really overlap much.

I agree they don't overlap much at lower levels, but I just don't think that for a warrior/cleric 2 box combo a beastlord is by any means ideal. A warrior at low levels with 2 healers (plus slow, regen, buffs) can most likely tank 2 exp mobs.

We're back to crowd control though, which I don't think is very important at low levels for exp groups. In the event you NEED CC, cleric has root at 9 and shaman has root at 14. It's ghetto, but it can work.

Honestly people should just read up on a class and play what they think they'll enjoy playing. No matter how "perfect" a group is, it should still be fun. With that, if they think they'd enjoy playing a beastlord, they should most definitely play a beastlord.

In addition - I don't think everyone has the same play style either, so what I feel would be an excellent combo may make others say, "Dude...stop smoking the rock..." :) So I guess with my final post on this I'll say...

Play what you think you will like.

I'd go wizard. DPS+ports and you won't miss the crowd control as long as you're careful. Necro's a good second choice, though.

I'd pick a DPS class. With a warrior, shaman and cleric - where's the DPS?

Roll a monk. Great DPS, and with the ability to FD/split pull, there is no need for CC.

I play a Cleric + Wiz. The wife plays a Enc + SK.

That a sweet combo just mooch some buffs he he..
