Hello, I just downloaded and started playing this thing last night. I'm diggin it so far  but I have a few questions.

I noticed alot of things have changed from the actual EQ game. Like for example there are now merchants you can sell to and vendors you can buy from where as before you could sell to and buy from anyone that was an NPC merchant... as long as faction allowed. Another example is that Grobb and Qeynos (Newport) appear to now be the starting areas for all races, depending on wether or not you are good or evil.

I was just wondering if anyone who has played the origional EQ, is well situated in the Winter's Roar version and feels like typing could give me a brief rundown of all of the changes so I understand kinda whats going on.

Thanks :patriot:

Quick rundown on some basics...

Think of the merchants and vendors as such:

Vendors (those with names under it) are like the bazaar mules of EQLive. Since there isn't a bazaar in the WR, they have vendors which you hire to sell your wares for you when you are not in game. You can only buy from these NPCs. Vendors remain available to buy from 24 hours a day GT (gametime)

Merchants are just named individuals (e.g., like Voleen - she's a merchant) You can buy AND sell from these NPC's. And they are affected by the time changes in the game. Ergo, night time comes (8pm GT), merchants disappear and close up shop (except for the shady few who appear at night in out-of-the-way areas - i.e., under the docks in South Newport). Now there are some merchants that don't disappear when night fall comes, they are 24 hour shops.

I am not totally familar with all races in the game, but Barbarians start in Halas (like they do in EQLive).

There isn't de-leveling in the game. When you die, you accumulate XP debt which is paid off as you gain xps. So losing levels shortly after you leveled in the game is a thing of the past.

There's no corpse runs anymore. When you die, you respawn at your bind point with all your gear still on you.

You can change your bind point by typing /cmd bind

OOC is worldwide... So don't be yelling "TRAIN!" or "HELP ME!" as everyone will hear it in the game and not have a clue as to where the train or your needed assistance is.
