I would like to thank everyone who helped me hunt White Rabbits in Everfrost today. Questle is my new Barbarian Beastlord. This is my first character in a long time. I haven't played SoD in at least a year or two. And even then I didn't play for long. Anyways, the second, and third beastlord newbie quests require items from White Rabbits. Not only that, but the second quest must be completed twice in order to continue to the third. I don't know who designed these quests or wrote Primalist Vylva's dialog, but they successfully made me hate an NPC with a passion. For those who don't know, the White Rabbit is a fairly rare spawn in Everfrost out on the tundra. Not only that, but the pelts they drop are fairly rare as well.
I needed four pelts. I did not realize this ahead of time. The first quest asked for rabbit sinew and a rabbit pelt (among other items that were simple to get). I was lucky with that one and only had to kill two rabbits to get what I needed. This was, of course, after the long task of finding any in the first place. Then, after returning them to the NPC, I was told I needed to do it again. That took longer. It seems the sinew drops just about every time, but that pelt, oh no, the pelt does not. Once I did that, I finally got to do the third quest... which was to get two more. Four in total. Insanity. I didn't want to spoil things by reading the wiki on the quests beforehand, but now I'm wishing I had. I have vowed that one day, when I am high enough in level, I will have my revenge on that NPC. Are guild trainers killable? Hmm. Oh, and Goretusk too.
Over the course of six or seven hours of hunting rabbits, a handful of people helped me. I am very bad with names. Very bad. So I apologize for not being able to thank you by name. I really, truly appreciate it though.
To benefit others who might do these quests, I am planning to write a small White Rabbit hunting guide complete with a map and markers as to where I believe these rabbits spawn.
I know I haven't played SoD in a while, but of the characters I've made, I've never had newbie quests so hard and annoying as these ones. Is this intentional? The Barbarians live in a harsh environment so they must deal with harsh tasks? Hmm. Perhaps all newbie quests have been changed to be like this now and I just don't know it.
