i cant make any new characters because apparently the dream uses plane of nightmare files, and in trying to get sod working on my laptop i guess i didnt patch far enough. However any time i resinstalll everquest it still brings me to the new patch screen which has no advanced options to choose what expansion you want to patch up to, i just re-installed eq and it stilll goes to the newest patcher, how do i fix this so i can get the nightmareb file the dream requires, hopefully i didnt uninstall for no reason..

This file is part of the PoP expansion. You need to install all of the following expansions if you want to be able to access all of the content:

  • [o]The Ruins of Kunark
    [o]The Scars of Velious
    [o]The Shadows of Luclin
  • The Planes of Power
    [o]The Legacy of Ykesha
    [o]Lost Dungeons of Norrath
    [x]Gates of Discord

  • = Required
    [x] = Recommended

PSIf you were trying to follow Xardon's thread, How To Setup Shards of Dalaya (Fresh Install), be aware that the instructions in that thread are now out of date. It is no longer possible to aquire these expansions by running the patcher. You will need to buy the expansions on disk or from the Company and get them installed - running the live patcher never served any purpose other than to aquire these expansions - you do not need to run the patcher at all if you install all of the required expansions from disk.
PPSUse the starting guide from the Shards of Dalaya website. This guide starts with a list of compatable packages to start with. Install from the recomended version (Titanium) if at all possible to have access to every zone in Dalaya.

thanks for the info...i did buy up to PoP when i played Game so i suppose i can just install pop and that prob will be solved, when i finally get to a LoY,LdoN, or GoD based zone i guess that will be another issue to deal w/, wether to buy the expansions or not(and how to get my char out of a zone i dont have)..... However what are the intentions of SoD? I thought it would be more of the original game, using only up to luclin w/ some random pop zones, and maybe a few instances from LDoN. When i first found the game it only said to patch up to LDoN. Now, when i have to reinstall i see it says to patch up to GoD. What is this pointing to? Same situation as Game, the small amount of hardcore players are pressuring staff to push out higher raiding zones?? idk its a concern of mine and as i see kunark zones are just coming out, yet apparently GoD is soon to be implemented im confused as to what the staff is planning, where is SoD going? I stopped playing Game because they started pumping out more expansions to buy, focusing on accommodating the people who devote 6+hours everyday, which is probably not even as much as those top people play. That's what attracted me to SoD, free Game using the good expanions(which i already own)...now it seems to be turning into Game, its just happening faster :what: :what: :psyduck:

P.S. Game=the game SoD is based on, apparently you cant use its initials or something idk first post on forums here....

None of the live expansions are going to be implemented; the development team works at a reasonable pace to enhance the world of Dalaya for all players, not just the hardcore players. They are not releasing new content so fast that you will not be able to keep up, and when they do release new content they work very hard to balance it correctly. A few of the zone maps from the recommended expansion packs are used as SoD zones. Do not infer from the list of expansion that I provided that SoD is in any way like Game was at the release of GoD.
