i was wondering how dose a petition work, how long it stays active, if i can check on its statuse all that kind of stuff.

To start one, type /petition <what you are petitioning>

e.g., /petition My character suddenly doesn't have any legs. Can you help me?

When petitioning, make sure to be detailed as possible.

Don't be doing this:

/petition Help! I need help!

You can view your status of you petition by typing /viewpetition

As for how long they last? Once you log out, your petition disappears. So you need to remain online until you petition has been read. Again using /viewpetition will let you know if you have one waiting or not.

A quote from the "How to petition" topic:
6) Petitioning your problem multiple times within the same half-hour will not trigger some sort of GM bat signal and make every staff member in the area drop everything they're doing and log in to help you. Petitions stay in the database even if you log off, so there's no need to re-petition every time you change character. If you petitioned once, then it's very likely that a GM saw it.

That information is obsolete. The petition system was changed so that the petitions now gets deleted when you log out.

This ain't Comcast customer support here. You can't email your problem to them, go one about your day polishing your miniature golf club set, and expect a responce when you get back.
