How different are the classes in SoD from EQLive?

What i am mainly looking for is this:

1. Are any classes soloable? All? Some?
2. Which classes are in high demand?
3. Which classes are in low demand?
4. When do the guilds start looking at people? Level 30? 50? 65? 65 + 50AA?
5. How much content is able to be done by one group?

As a former member of an UBER on Quellious, i am looking to get back to the old ways of the game. If you have any additional information about SoD please feel free to write away; i am hungry for any and all information anyone can provide.

P.S. For those that will absolutly insist on asking...i was a Cleric and my guilds were Lotus Cult, Cold Fury, and Eternal Honor Legion

Best way to cover all of the differences would be tolog in and find out.
classes are generally the same for the most part, bards have undergone a shift in how songs work though. Too my knowledge that is the biggest class gameplay difference. 99% of spells have been retained with just name changes and a handful being moved around level-wise.

3. Which classes are in low demand?
For god's sake, don't make a mage or a beastlord.

Or a druid :p

There is a true demand, and very low supply, for true tanks. NOT RANGERS.

Mages, Druids, Beastlords, Rangers, Monks... these are extremely low in demand.

That covers up to the 30s. I have no clue how it is at 65, but I see very few tanks, period.

I played EQ back in the day and from what I remember, the class roles are very similar so if you liked class XY in old, then play XY now for a similar experience. As far as demand, I agree with the fact that beastlords are common as it gets. Shamans are also real common, along with the others. As of right now, I think Warriors are more scarce, and bards are rare. I'm currently mid-50s though so I cannot speak for the high-end raid scene.

Dont make any tank classes. The present holders of tank classes enjoy the monopoly that we have on them. :)

It sucks being a tank. Extremely dependant on gear and AA's :(

I still can't hold aggro well.

I'd say what is in demand, from most in demand to least (from an end-game point of view), is:

- Necromancer
- Wizard
- Rogue
- Cleric
- Bard
- Enchanter
- Paladin
- Shaman
- Ranger
- Druid
- Magician
- Warrior
- Shadow Knight
- Beastlord
- Monk

You mean from Legacy's viewpoint, I do believe ;).

Not to say that's not significant, of course, but I'm pretty sure you'll find DPS classes and mained clerics in higher demand than Necromancers outside Legacy.

I agree... I don't really see any demand or real need for necros... lol.

Of course they have a place though, and Legacy is one of them.

Rangers are desired over warriors? Oh the shame of it all! <puts paper bag over his head>

It would be nice if there was some game mechanic to make a second warrior useful without disrupting encounter balance , like being able to bodyguard a squishy or take a few hits for the main tank when they're hurting bad.

Let's not discount necromancers just yet. They will be extremely powerful, especially on raids, when the DoT changes go in.

Well i played the hell out of the Cleric class...and frankly i am exhausted with it. Was hoping to get a class that soloing was possible...but was in high demand for the raid game. I tend to level quickly, so i am gonna want to be in the thick of things soon and want to be a class that will have options when it comes to raid guilds.

With the new DoT changes going in, will SHM be able to solo at will like in live?

Are Rogues in high demand because after level 20 they cant solo for shit, so none are able to level up to the raid guild levels?

Whats the take on Wizards? Are they resist nerfed into oblivion? Are they able to actually burn stuff down since i have heard there is a real problem with viable tanks on this server that can hold aggro?

Why arent tanks in high demand? Not enough group slots to go around? Is equipment really that hard to come by?

Thanks for all your help,

Kanturok

thats exactly why rogues are rare IMO, kanturok, wizards are best dps next to rogues, i've heard... so of course they will be needed... the tank thing... not sure... a while back we had lots of tanks, now there isn't many *shrug* i would say play what you ENJOY, its funner

What DoT changes? Are you talking about the DoT damage = damage reduction on mobs? If so, it's nice but not exactly super duper scrumdiliumtious awesome. :)

It really is, coupled with how much DPS Necromancers can do in the endgame. 10% damage reduction on a mob like Taeshlin the Guardian is huge, and you're going to want lots of dotters to acheive that. Ergo necros.
