High Level Fishing

Just throwing this out there... I am working on a second master fisherman currently and pledged him to Marlow. I was thinking PoNightmare, hmmm, I remember there was a river and a decent size lake down further from the graveyard. I get there and there is nothing to fish in the waters. I figured the planes would offer the ability to max fishing (of course only if there is water) after a certain point. Is there a reason why no fish were placed in the waters of PoNightmare or was it just not implemented yet? Thanks and will wait for an answer.

Just to clarify, I am not looking to fish for profit in PoNightmare as most do in the plane of Air. If the fish sell enough to fish for a profit, thats great, if not, I won't complain. I just am requesting that something be put there to fish. I beleive that if fish were placed in the water, that they can be fished from skill 200 to 250 just like Plane of Air. Of course there is alot of shoreline and I don't expect the fish from these waters to sell for more than maybe 1pp each. With a much larger area to fish from, I would expect there to be less competition for fish and therefore realisticly leading to less value per fish. I am of course speaking from a roleplaying and realistic point of view.
 
I grieve everyday I didn't add fish to plane of fire =(


I don't think there is a real reason for the lack of fish, and the best we can say is maybe some day...
 
Would this be a legitimate reason to roll back my char so I can rechoose my deity or just tough luck? Would this be a big project to impliment fish to planar lakes and rivers?

Tough luck, as you put it. It's not a huge job from what I understand, but it is a chunk of work that has to be prioritized against all the other things that could/should be done.
 
I see, well, I guess it's just something I'll be looking forward to in the future, thanks for the prompt replies.
 
If I was willing (and able), would it be possible for myself to devote time doing just this, that is develop fishing in areas not yet implemented? Of course anything I do would be reviewed by a dev. I wouldn't mind mind expanding the horizon for fishers. I actually enjoy the tradeskill and am sad it comes to such an abupt stop. Again, just tossing the idea out there.
 
Because the zones listed in the SoDwiki that tell where fishing is available to skill up are the only zones where fishing can be done. If you fish in high level zones, most of the bodies of water have nothing to fish (even the only puddle available to fish in poWater). The only places to fish is PoTorment and for T-maps (Storm Sea or Sea of Swords), and if you want to pledge your character to shiritri, you have one more zone to work with (although it's usually all fished out). But other than that, if you want to fish anything after skill 200, there's not much to offer the master fisherman.
 
I have also long thought that there are fish missing from many newer zones. Feel free to compile a list of places that need fish, but I make no promises as to when it will get done, especially since I currently have no idea how to do it!

I have 2 grandmaster fisherman, I never spent any time in POAir, and never had a problem with not finding a place to fish that wasn't fished out. The information IS there in the Wiki. Limited options? Yes, but there ARE options.
 
I'm not saying at all that there is no place to fish after 200. I'm just saying that there is alot of room for expansion for this tradeskill. I'll run around and compile a list of all the zones that have water but, "There is nothing to fish here." I want you to know that I am willing to put more time and work into this than just compiling a list. But I guess this is a start! Thanks for letting me help.
 
Here is a list of places that have no fish implimented, I'm not done checking all the spots yet, just the beginning og tyhe list:

Plane of Air/Tasineth, Land of Bliss
-loc -636, -388, 108 (only this pool)

Plane of Nightmare
-Nowhere to fish despite the water.

Red Sun Peaks
-No fish in lava

Plane of Fire
-No fish implimented as per Tyrone

Red Sun Mines
-No fish implimented

Fire Grotto
-No fish implimented

If there's anything else I can do to help besides coming up with a list, I'd love to put some more time in to help.
 
The first two of those I could see having fish...but in lava? I realize that by the client it's considered "liquid" as in your breath meter comes up when you go under it...but.... it's LAVA. :D

Maybe if these mythical lava fish were to manifest themselves in said pools...perhaps there could be a fishing pole "upgrade" made available by quest or something. Some sort of lava specialty rig...heat treated to withstand the lava. May need special bait too... worms would be incinerated after all.
