High Elf Charm Immunity

I play a High Elf Cleric and was charmed twice in WW by a named dragon. I was under the impression that i was immune to charm and play my character as such. If this is broke please fix it.

ps - I did find the old thread on this but by reading the last comment it seemed to be resolved.

Looks like Ikaa is 10pp richer.

I think it would be nice to have the immunity explained a little more in depth (if it hasn't been already) on a Tome of Knowledge post. How game mechanics work, it would be impossible to 'resist' and unresistable spell. However, most players do not realize that it works that way, and assume that charm immunity means simply, immune to charms.

There is at least one fight that it is very helpful on, so it is not a complete waste...

Yeah that ! was lazy. Still don't understand what it really means :whoa:
Send me a cookie for 10 pp !!

1 v all like some, though that's something I know you and I agree on. It would be nice if it was explained more thoroughly in the racial selection. Knowing what I know there is 0 reason I would have chosen high elf, simply a case of point of no return when I learned about the immunity being pretty useless.

This tread has been discussed over and over again. The whole "irresistible force hits an immovable object" is truely an BS answer and a cop out.

" being able to resist unresistable charms seem a little odd dontcha think? "

Not really, its no more odd than a race that gets an AC increase or 10% item and spell focus or a 2.5% exp mod, they pick these races for certant enhancements... to make them a cut above the rest in the players eyes per se.

What is truely odd is that people have such a hard time understanding why this immunity means so much to us. For me and many other high elfs this was the MAIN reason for picking an highelf. If it doesnt work then fine change it, give high elfs something that is actually worth a damn. Because frankly you dont see this type of nonsence with other races.

Perhaps the admins and or the powers that be can come up with a viable alternative to this racial trait.

(It would be wise to not hold ones breath :) )

does this mean my Dark Elfs +20% charm/mez resistance its as useless as the +50 hide?

In short

Only when against unresistable charms and mezzes

Correct, it's pretty worthless. Less worthless than straight up charm resistance, as there actually are some places you could conceivably get hit with a resistable mez (like paw). But still very worthless just the same.

Throw in more mobs with resistable charms and mezzes at every level range.

Seriously. I can count my hands the times I faced "regular" mobs with these abilities. They're a PITA, granted, but it'd give those racial bonuses more use without the need to mess around with unresistable charm and mezz on some select targets.
