Help with starting up

My friend told me about SoD, and I decided to give it a shot. I downloaded Trilogy and I'm running the live patch now, up to LDoN like it says. I have two questions though:
1. Do I need to patch 'optional zones' as well?
2. Are there any zone files I can delete without problems, in order to save space? (z.B. Kunark Zones)

1. Yes, you'll need at least Jaggedpine Forest
2. Kunark outdoor zones should be pretty safe to delete. Sebilis and veksar are used from what I know.

One more question, though:
I just created this forum name, but then I went to the registration page and made a game account there. Is there anyway to link this name and that game account name? (it copied over my game account name as a forum name instead)

Not that I'm aware of. I think the linking aspect of registering is borked atm.
