HI

im new here...can you guys please help me?
I have EQ titanium version, what should I do to play on this server
Thx

I think you should be good just to run the patcher (Not positive titanium has all the expansions but pretty sure)

ok, thx guys
the start guide is not really specific to titanium version, but ill try it without the live patch
by the way, how many people player here?
thx

It doesn't need to be specific to the Titanium version ... the "Titanium" package is just all the expansions up to a certain point re-packaged together at a lower price, to make it more affordable & easier for new players.
It really doesn't make a difference whether you buy all the expansions up to LDON individually, or if you buy them as part of a packaged set like Titanium ... when you finish installing the game, simply select the expansions up to LDON to patch, and follow the rest of the starting guide steps.

From the Startup Guide:
1. Install Ever*quest®
2. Run Ever*Quest.exe and let the Ever*Quest patcher do its thing. IMPORTANT: Click the "Advanced" tab and select all expansions up to and including Lost Dungeons when patching. This is necessary to be able to play the server.
3. Go into your game folder and delete the entire /maps/ subfolder. Then download the Shards of Dalaya Map Pack and unzip it into your EverQuest folder.

Where it says "Install Ever*Quest" ... that means to install your Titanium Pack ... follow the rest of the directions at the link I posted above.

I believe he was confused cuz EQEmu requires the version of EQ on Titanium.

this server is seperate from EQEmu, they are just uber like that here

EQEmu does not require "Game Titanium" ... Titanium simply includes the following expansions:
Kunark
Velious
Luclin
Planes of Power
Legacy of Ykesha
LDoN
Gates of Discord
Dragons of Norrath
Omens of War
Depths of Darkhollow

Again, it DOES NOT matter which "version" of Game you get ... They've released a "Silver" .. "Gold" ... "Platinum" and now "Titanium". It's simply a box that bundles all their expansions.

So, if you decide to go out and buy each of the expansions up to LDoN individually, you can use that to play SoD ... or you can buy all 10 of those expansions, and they will work together for EQEmu.

For that matter, as long as you have the "original" (pre-kunark) game, you can patch all the way up to the most recent expansion. If you want to play on the EQ servers, it means you need the corresponding CD key(s) for the expansions you want to actually play, the same does NOT apply to SoD as you do not need CD keys to play here.

"EQEmu does not require "EQ Titanium" ... Titanium simply includes the following expansions: "

His point was that the EQEmu team has stopped chasing live, and is now sticking with the store-bought Titanium package. This is obviously confusing a lot of new people coming from there, since they have a don't patch to live after installing warning.

Ummm I am right and yes you do need Titanium to play EQemu 0.7.0.

SoD is not EQEmu

so don't get them mixed up.

Do some research about what I'm talkin about before ya go saying I'm wrong

Research steps:
1. Go to www.google.com
2. Type "eqemu"
3. Click first link
4. Click "Documentation/Wiki" link (top left)
5. Click "PlayGuide" (the link, should you need it: http://www.eqemulator.net/wiki/wikka.php?wakka=PlayGuide)

From the PlayGuide:
If you need to buy Everquest
If you are looking to buy Everquest, you can find the Everquest Titanium edition in your favorite game store, which is only about $30, and contains ten expansions!
This is, indeed, a good deal if you are new to Everquest! This is a good deal for all those that are new and old to EQ, considering you save a lot of money if you buy it this way.

It does not REQUIRE Titanium ... they RECOMMEND you get it, because it "contains ten expansions!", and saves you money over the alternative of buying the expansions separately.

I don't think anyone here suggested that SoD is the same as EQEmu ... a question was presented about the Titanium version, and further discussion arose regarding EQEmu's SUGGESTED use of the Titanium box set.

We don't have much to do with EQEmu anymore. Maybe we still use a litle bit of their code, I don't know, but I think it's mostly been rewritten.

Need more research?

Oh my, release the board warrior in me why don't you.
lol I'm glad you realize they are pretty different, if only you understood that they don't say Titanium all over the eqemu cuz it has a ton of expanions but because that version on the titanium is one that you can play on for their supported EQemu version of 0.7.0 servers. *sigh* unfortunatly you only read up enough to support your arguement and found a quote you can use for it.

lets see what happens when I do that.

http://www.eqemulator.net/wiki/wikka.php?wakka=DoNotPatchWarning
Why is it not compatible?

As the live subscriber version of EverQuest gets patched from time to time, the underlying network communication code within the client will also be changed. Sony must change the network code to accommodate any new features they add to the game, as the client and server must be able to notify each other when the new feature is being acquired or used. They may also change network code for internal reasons, such as to optimize it or make it easier to manage internally. They could also change the network code in a deliberate attempt to make it difficult for anything but the EverQuest client to operate with the game (this includes not just the Everquest Emulator, but also ShowEQ, possibly MacroQuest, and some of the more egregious cheating/botting programs out there).

Quite simply, if your client's network code is changed, then the EQEmulator server cannot communicate with it anymore as it is expecting a specific language that the "new" client no longer speaks. The Emulator's server code must then be re-coded to speak the new client's language. If the DO NOT PATCH message is displayed, then the "new" network code hasn't been finished yet.

or how about at the Top of the EQemu boards
Titanium Now Supported - Do not patch to live, but 0.7.0 adds support for fresh Titanium installs

So explain that one to me... don't patch to live... hummm maybe cuz you have to have the version of eq that is on the titanium install? Is? .. is that like the other CD installs?

http://www.eqemulator.net/wiki/wikka.php?wakka=DoNotPatchWarning

Ooh I just remembered! I have my Planes of Power CD! And my Gates of Discord CD! And my Shadows of Luclin CD! Can I install one of these and have a client that is compatible with any server versions?

No, it doesn't work that way. By the time any of these CD's hit store shelves, there was already a patch out. The straight-from-the-CD client never saw a minute of post-release use. So nobody ever got a chance to see the installation CD client's net code in action, must less reverse engineer it.

now lets take one of your quotes
"Again, it DOES NOT matter which "version" of EQ you get "

oh? doesn't it?

but seriously that was a fun arguement, thanks, I'm going to go play some SoD now cuz SoD > EQemu

I'd just like to remind everyone that if you ever attempt to circumvent the word filters again, I will ban you, and then I will ban your entire extended family.
