Help reinstalling!

Let me start by saying that i had SoD installed and running perfectly on my old laptop. I stopped playing right around the time the new patcher was released, as my laptop was over heating and basically dying a slow death.
Before it died i was able to save everything to an external hard-drive.
I transferred all the files i had from my old laptop to my new one, mostly everything i need was transferred. all my sod/eq files etc.
except for my *eqgame . exe* file.

I got the .net framework, downloaded the new patcher and chose the right directory (company > thegame) but when i try to run the patcher i get:

"eqgame . exe can not be found in your company>thegame directory.. etcetc"

So my question is; how was i running SoD without *eqgame . exe* installed on my old laptop?
I still have everything in thegame folders, screenshots, zones,maps,music. its like 3gb of stuff all eq/sod related...but no eqgame . exe? what the hell?
Any ideas on what may have happened and how it can be fixed? Or was this just user error in transferring the data over, and miraculously this one file failed to transfer?

(i've searched the the entire harddrive for the .exe file and its no where to be found)

eqgame.exe is essential to be able to play SoD. There's no way the old latop could have run SoD without. Maybe the file was corrupted and failed to copy to the external HDD during the backup. Check to make sure you have file extensions turned on (so you can see that it's an .exe). If you still can't see it, find your old installation discs (or buy new ones/download) and re-install the whole game.
 
Windows Key+R > type control folders then click ok
In the second tab (View) there is window labeled Advanced settings.
Make sure you UNcheck the box next to Hide extensions for known file types.

That setting is so annoying anyway.
 
Ugh.. did this and no luck finding eqgame.exe ... the only file i have in the eq folder that is an exe is: _verquest.exe written just like that.
 
Yeah, you're totally missing files (I've got like 9 exes in my sod patched install). I'd try re-copying what's on the external drive first first off. Otherwise, you might need a fresh install.
