Help needed with Shadow Mail quest

I've collected a bunch of shadow tempers and a piece of obsidian, but I'm having a heck of a time getting the Tismaks to cough up armor pieces. I've been hunting in Great Divide, killing warriors/scouts in the hills around the Broodmother's tunnels (center of the zone) and warriors in the Tismak tunnels (NW side of the zone). I haven't found any other major pockets of Tismaks yet. I've gained several levels already in the process, and a good 10-15 horns but no armor. I would appreciate any advice on alternate hunting areas where the Tismaks drop the necessary armor, or if the stuff is just super rare & I need to keep plugging away. Thanks.
 
I don't think scouts drop armor, and got most of mine off warriors and defenders back around your level. Sounds like you're hunting the right spot but just having crappy luck =\
 
Well atm I'm stuck wearing a full suit of vendor chainmail, along with an earring, ring, and belt from quests around Erudin. Pretty much ANYTHING would be an improvemnt, at least until I start making enough money to afford better gear from other players (though I'm more concerned about getting decent weapons to skill up all my weapon types with first). I've also been fooling around with tailoring a bit, in the hopes that tailored studded/reinforced stuff might be better than basic chain, or at least close enough and lighter.

Anyway, I probably won't stick around GD very long once the mobs start greening out on me, but if I'm gonna xp somewhere, I might as well do it someplace where I have a chance at armor upgrades.
 
Well, ya gotta love the Random Number Generator. Doing the same route today as yesterday, I picked up a set of sleeves, a bracer, and some boots. The AC is as similar to my store-bought chain, but it has some stats & a nice red chain look so I'm happy. :) Now for a full set!
 
At the time that you can get exp off the tizmaks, and considering it being your first/highest level character, the armor is quite nice, with the added perks of exp gained via the temper quest and the mail quest themselves it makes those levels go bye a little faster and such. Of course if you have a higher level character that can twink your lower level one, the greysteel/runeprinted/ornate/mastercrafted quested armors are superior.

Point being, if you're exping off the tizmaks, then there's no wasted effort.


PS the rogue miners in thurg drop obsidian rather commonly in case you didn't know
 
Yeah, I've been getting all my obsidian off the miners. The first piece I got while poking around in the abandoned mines is what set me onto this quest, actually... the stuff is non-sellable so I figured it had to be for something. The nice thing about getting the stuff this way is that I don't have to start ruining my wyrm faction (yet) while doing this quest (ie: by killing them and turning in the hides for obsidian). I'm already in the process of tanking my Tismak faction, and that's enough for now.
 
...or -any- chainmail quest for a level 22 ranger (that duos with a 22 cleric)?

i'd rather not have to mess around with any faction yet. and i just checked... the tizmaks are green...
