help me, ranger +..?

i am new in SoD and i want start with 2 box, ranger +...? what is a good duo with ranger..??
 
Obviously duo a ranger with a mage so you never need arrows.. :D

But really, there are lots of rangers about & they're more suited to soloing, than duo really in my experience.

If you want a melee ranger then just duoing with any healer will work fine.
 
Yeah, like Futur3 said, rangers do not 2box well unless you are going to melee. There is no server side /autofire option here. So, when you tab out of the ranger you lose his bow dps. That's not to say that ranger melee is total crap just that it is substantially less than a good bow/arrow combo.

And contrary to all the "ranger down" jokes you've heard, we do make decent tanks in most circumstances. The one caveat being that you must make gear choices aimed at tanking. And having TONS of AAs helps, too.
 
Use 2 pc's to avoid losing the bow DPS, and two box with a shaman. Use AC augs where you can and buy/get decent AC gear and you can tank fine. For the real tough mobs outside, kite them. Shaman can DoT and send pet and ranger can bow kite/nuke.

Your bow DPS won't outweigh melee for a long time anyway...it's easier to find two real nice melee weapons that out DPS a bow.
 
Melle is actualy really good for rangers, i DPS just under a MNK. Especialy after ambidexterity you cna do just fine in melle. Like Kukov said a shaman would be the best optiopn for you, the only problem you will run itno is yoru only cc is rooting. Find mobs that don't cast and yoru golden
 
I have a question on two boxing, why can he not stay on his ranger the entire time and send tells to an alt with a parser to have it do things such as heal and slow when needed. There would never be any need to alt tab.

I would say a ranger and mage would be a good combo with an earth pet for rooting and summoned arrows or you could circle kite around the mage and nuke while pet chases.

This means you would use macroquest.
If you were to be found using this by the staff, you would be banned immediatly, and forever. Better be careful. This is not Live.
 
I haven't been around for the archery change, but duoing a Ranger + Shaman was pretty sweet stuff with the ranger tanking.
 
I never used macroquest but a self programmed system, but yeah basically the same thing. I never really worried about the issue because I have two decent computers and should add a third by the end of the year and I do not like boxing and prefer traditional groups.

As a side note by system was actually used as a raid leading tool rather than a boxing tool, but it would not have been hard to modify it to be a boxing tool.
