Hi all, I have not played EQ for some time now. Work has been slow and such so i was looking for a way to kill some downtime. I have a new comp since i last played EQ so i downloaded the original EQ onto my comp but when i try to open it and ru nthe patch, it says connection lost error.... therefore i cannot run the patch or update it. I wanted to know if anyone knew why this would be happening and if there was anything i could do or if there was a way around it.... thank you...

Blocked ports, maybe? Unless you're a network admin, don't ask that question at work.

It's interesting - I'm sitting in an airport, connected to a wireless system. Thought I'd try to play, but can't get in... Just tried to VPN into my corporate network, and can't do that, either. So I'm thinking that SoD falls into the same range of ports as a VPN.... I can surf (I'm posting here on the wireless system).... maybe it's the type of connection. That's getting a bit arcane for me.

But I'll bet it's something similar in your case. Might ask is your company uses Websense or something similar to block certain websites.
