Hell Levels

Been trying to encourage some friends from EQ to check out WR and when I mentioned about the hell levels, they were kinda like "I think I'll pass on that".

So my question is, just how much of a hell level are they? How long will it take from whenever it starts to when it ends?

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hell levels in EQ were done away with a LONG time ago. I assume that WR is the same way.

Hell levels were certain levels(30,35,40,45,50-60(I only made it to 50 before they were dropped so I dunno about the 50-60) where exp would go VERY slow. It wasn't that the mobs gave alot less exp it was that the levels required alot more exp.

oh, I'm new too btw. hey.

to be specific, they were levels where the xp multiplier changed in SoE's forumla.

So to go from 35-36 too considerably more XP then it took to go 34-35, or then it will take to go 36-37. Way back when someone took the time to figure (roughly) it out in more detail, but I'm too lazy to try to dig it up, and I doubt its relevent here anyways, as I'm guessing Wiz put in his own XP tables.

What I remember of it was something like this:

34-35 might take 15,000,000 xp
35-36 would take 45,000,000 xp
36-37 would take 27,000,000 xp

What happened is the forumla they used to decide the xp needed changed multipliers at that level, causing you to have to "make up" xp as if the forumla had been using that multiplier all along. EQ unlike WoW and CoH and other games i'm forgetting, uses TOTAL xp, where as everytime you ding in WoW you get reset to 0xp and only have to gain that levels xp.

Sorry if thats confusing but I'm pretty hung over and my brain is not cooperating.

I flew through 1-49, but once I hit 50 I realized it took a lot longer to level due to the increase in mob difficulty. So it may seem like it IS a hell level, but in actuallity it is not.

I know that exp for me slowed down exactly 2x at level 50. I hear exp also slows down more at 61, even more at 62, more at 63, and the most at 64...

Though from personal experience I only know it goes down 2x at 50.

We don't have hell levels. 51+ is slower than 1-50, yes, and 56-60 is slower than 51-55, and 61-65 is slower than 56-60, etc, but that's not 'hell levels', it's just progression.

While I would argue that 'hell levels' do exist, I wouldn't say they exist in the sense they did on live.

40-45 sucked for me. It was the only time on WR I've felt like I was really grinding. Even then, though, I still pulled a level a day in a DC'd pair.

50-54 was also difficult, but only because I didn't know where to hunt. The xp requirements do spike abit, but it's nothing too bad. I think I was pulling a level in 8-10 hours in the 50s. I'd have to check my logs.

64 is a bitch, but you can still see your xp bar move with every kill. Which is always nice. Basically, I just forgot that I was even leveling, and just killed whatever I wanted. It took me something like 2 weeks to do the 64/65 change over, alot of which I picked up in raids.

Anyway - If you get into a guild and take the initiative to *****START GROUPS***** you will have no problems leveling here.

Basiically, you notice a difference at level 30, level 40, level 50, and then pretty much there on it gets slower. At 60, you notice a much larger difference from 59.

It's all progression really. Nothing huge.
