* We've added a new concept called 'Heat' to represent the attention of the authorities you draw with your notorious ways. Heat naturally disperses over time, but if you let it get too high, it will be harder to steal from NPCs as they will be suspicious of you, and once it reaches a certain level Guards will attack you on sight.

I love this idea, however I have a small problem with it. I took the trusty rogue out and we decided to start picking some pockets to try out the new system. All was going well until uh oh I got caught. Okay no big deal just a little heat right. I explore some more seedy activities and a few hours later im caught again. Time to take it easy lay low. Except now I am totally KoS and I can't even sneak and hide past the guards to get anywhere any more. I love the new system but i think there is a huge diffrence between whats described above and the actual heat system. The patch post makes it sound like its a bit more gradual instead of 2 strikes your out. Also I am not sure how fast the natural dispersal is but I have been waiting all day for the heat to go away enough that I would at least no longer be KoS to guards and still /cmd stats shows that they are looking for me. I think this system is a great idea but the severity of the response from the guards is so extreme it has all but totally sapped the fun out of it for me. I just want the heat to go away so I can travel around again in peace.
 
Perhaps an NPC in the rogue's guild that would, for a price based on either your level or the amount of heat you have, make that heat go away, either by pulling some strings with some friends or collegues in the guard, or by giving you a false identity to travel under, or... something?

Also... you can't even sneak past them? That's harsh. IMO, that should be changed, but maybe make merchants and whatnot not deal with you (if they can now, haven't tried it) if you have too much heat. That way, you could travel, sneaking, you just couldn't deal with anyone in the city.
 
Heat goes from max to nothing in a couple hours. I tested this myself consistently. :?

You can be discovered several times without attracting a lot of heat, it's being caught that makes your heat take a huge jump.

You ARE staying logged in, right? It doesn't go away if you log out, it just freezes.
