Healer box for a bard

I soloed my bard (Timba) up to 65 and have been enjoying him immensely. When I'm not in a group I've been slowly farming for tank gear; I know I have a bit to go (like finish auging). I want to try using him (eventually) to tank a duo through some dungeons for fun and maybe profit, and was wondering whether a druid or cleric would fit me best. I probably should of leveled a healer up with him, but I was too overwhelmed to consider boxing when I first began. I have a 55 druid sitting around from boxing with a monk. I am torn between leveling and using the druid to heal, or just getting enough levels for the 35 damage DS and potg and using him as a buffer for my bard and a cleric I have yet to level.

I know from experience that even with slow, my bard is light on the tanking side, and was wondering if the difference in cleric healing warrants leveling one up if I'm serious about exploring stuff on my own.

I'd rock the druid personally. You get more buffs, DS, ports, and a little bit more of a solid DPS output in most cases with your druid than with a cleric. Both combos can be very successful, though. Just don't do a shaman, b/c thade does bard/shm, and you don't wanna be like thade!

ive found that bards just take to much damage for druids to keep up with in duo'in situations.
Your best bet is to lvl your cleric up .. if you dont have Acrobatics Aa on ur bard yet.. you want want to get that as it will make a huge difference.

I'm leveling up acrobatics right now and plan on doing lightning reflexes next; probably work on stam/agility after that. It's going to be a while before he is ready; this is more of a long term goal and I just didn't want to dump a lot of effort into the druid if he will be ineffective for anything but buffs in the end. Thanks for the replies from both of you.

I've been using a wanna-be tank myself ( ranger ) or a bard and i personally like cleric more for the reasons Anti Eh mentionned. It's definitely possible with druids but 1 good cleric heal replenishes the whole health bar, and with ranger i feel like im doing good enough dps to compensate by having a pure healer.

With a ranger you're better off with a shaman due to the fact you lack bard slow. As a bard it's really between shaman or cleric, shaman for infinite mana, bigger slow, more dps from your healer, and the ability to not have to bard slow things. cleric if you want to solo low tier raid bosses for money. this is strictly at the high end though, cleric will be considerably better than a shaman until t8+.

Well Zurkka tanked better than my ranger so it really doesn't count.

:/

Thanks for the advice; sorta looking forward to leveling up a cleric now. Had one back on live and the proc hammer was a ton of fun.

My cleric just got his Ancient summon hammer spell and skilled up 1hb. Now if I am boxing him with my well geared, lots of AA Paladin (6% aggression), he will actually steal aggro in a pure melee fight. I am impressed with that hammer. Proc's like crazy.
