having some troubles getting started

hello ex"game" player for a long time and loved every minute of it, a friend turned me on to this so i decided to give it a shot, ive read all the information i can find on getting the game started but whenever i get past the patcher it crashes. i have the patched located inside the directory taht the "game" is installed in however every time the game loads up it errors out, anyone haev any suggestions to help me.

edit: ok repatched and i can now get into character creation, however when i try to enter world it shucks me back to the server menu, also at character creation it seems like my graphics are bugging because my character twitches and it gets increasingly more violent until my character is actually turning inside out with how violently the polygons are twitching, any help would be appreciated

on a side note i see a lot of talk about dual boxing.... did it get easier or is it just mandatory or is it just all the rage now because when i remeber playing i remeber 1 character being enough to keep me busy at the keyboard

What error are you getting? What is your computer specs? easier to help if we have more information than "I have an error every time it loads".

As for Dual boxing some people just prefer it because then they don't have to look for help as much. Others enjoy it cause they can level a buff bot while goin for a class they like. Many reasons. It is easier (as you don't have to pay for two accounts), it is not mandatory and it causes rage in some and is the rage for others.
 
useing a geforce 8800 gt video card, 4 gigs of ram, dual core AMD processor, my box whouldnt be the problem.

i repatched SoD and the error seemed to be fixed however now my graphics twitch very violently for my characters polygons and when i try to enter world it kicks me back to the server select menu

edit: also i have the full titanium edition installed and fully patched

k got the game running, character made, successfully entered world and now my next issues are resolutions and mouse sensitivity :p

when mouse looking it seems taht the y axis is very touchy while the x axis is sluggish, anyone know of a way to mess with these settings? also i cant seem to find a windowed mode that fits my desktop or a non windowed mode. anyone out there able lend me a hand
 
Setting the windowed to your monitor's native resolution will be the closest, but be aware that the window will still bleed over just a hair.

Mouse - alt-o in game, mouse tab, mouse sensitivity. And bear in mind that if you have a widescreen display, y will usually be more "touchy" than x.
 
my mouse is redulously sluggish on the x axis, so much that at 100% sensitivity i still cannot use the mouse as a means of locomotion, also is there a strafe feature :p

seem to have figured most everything out but now its time for sleep, thanks for all your help
