..guild wars?

I did search the forums and found little information on my suggestion.

To the meat and potatoes: Are guild wars implemented in SoD?

I don't think so.

So, will they ever be added?

This is my idea:

Construct a new city. Have guilds fight over it. The winner of the battle will take control of the city and make money from sales from that city. How? IE: Player A runs out of water. He goes to the city. He walks up to a merchant and spends 1G on water flasks. The guild then makes 15% of that 1G, or 1S 5C.

This could solve a problem with over farming mobs for cash. Instead of farming, guild can have some fun PvP AND get money off of the sales.

Ideas?

Or let me rephrase...

different cities would only allow level X - Y to compete.

Each guild could only let X amount of players compete for the city.

I now actually encourage feedback that will be productive.

I really dont see how this balances pvp and removes pvp drama.

Likewise, I dont see how limiting the amount of people able to compete limits people who are geared absurdly higher than the competition

...what drama?

The max amount of people is to not let this happen:

Guild A has 50 members. Guild B has 42 members.

If Guild A fought Guild B, guild A would most likely win.

If the cap was at 35 people, then it would be 'more even'.

I don't like the idea of guilds fighting over cities etc, thats really really biased towards the high end guilds... but I think the old guild war command could be pretty cool. They were a ton of fun when eq was first released.

The problem isn't the amount of members a certain guild has, it's that the higher end guilds with better equipment/spells would dominate the competition.

I see your point..

what if certain cities (or zones, whatever) would only allow lower level guild war fights?

IE: City A will only allow players level 40 - 45 - etc

You say old guild war functions? What are they?

I think you just have to spend time on a pvp server to understand what I mean by pvp drama.
There are loopholes, flaws and dirty tricks inherent in pvp, and It causes more trouble than it's worth sometimes. Pvp is great, but when you involve such substantial bonuses, people take it too far.

The old guildwar fuction just makes any person of one guild attackable by ones of the other and visa versa. This is ideal so long as people keep it friendly pvp. Once the pvp turns from meaningless fun between people and becomes something more serious with raids, loot, and money on the line, this pvp drama come out and isn't fun at all. Some of my best pvp memories are of two or more guilds fighting outside of a raid zone in order to be the one to claim it, but I really don't think it would fly well here.

Yeah! Actually old command would be pretty awesome, just PvP between 2 guilds for fun.

A simple /guildwar command which is accept/decline like duel initiated by officers. Ceasefire at any time either party wishes. Multiple guild war status so it is not strictly 1v1 guild at any time. oh, and serverwide broadcasts!

Maybe have each guild be given a rating by # of people, average level, average HP/mana. Compensate for Forsaken VS Dalaya Beginners problems.

I favor a gentleman's competition vs anything w/ substantial gain for players or adds new zones/content/massive coding (We have enough coming in for PvE atm)

If it is a challenge/accept system like a duel, why would this be needed? Also, how would a rating help either way? It isn't hard to tell if a guild is worse or better than you (or equal).
