Greetings SOD!

As of 11-1-05 I was banned from EQlive as well as about 5 of my guild mates. We were part of a highend guild on prexus, Tacvi and almost anguish. We are considering coming and playing on your server, it looks, for the most part, stable, complete, and has a lot of content to offer. I was just wondering before I make any decision, what sort of raid content you have to offer, and how it compares to an EQlive encounter. (how many people does it take, and is the physical making of the raid similar? I'd hate to have to rethink everything that I currently know about EQ encounters because something is completely different, it would confuse me lol) Also I am wondering, does agro work the same as EQlive? Rampage? Flurry? Line of Sight AE spells, Hatelist AE spells? Sorry for being overly inquisitive, Im kind of expecting to get flamed and get a few responses that say "why dont you log in and figure it out yourself", but any input on how well the game mechanics work would be great!

First question that would come to mind is: Why were you guys banned from live? And what makes you think it wont happen here? :) Just a tought!

Anyway, tough this server has indeed some technical similarities to live (as far as Rampage and Flurry like crap is concerned) it's content is NOT live :)

Raids here are limited to a 36 man cap, and a limit of 6 of the same class. Thus encounters are designed for such a number of people, tough with enough gear/aa's they can be done by far less people. I am sure that tactics on mobs are somewhat similar as to the tactics used on live, after all... mobs can have certain effects that you must respond to... just like on live.

I had that thought too!

One note on taunt: when you successfully taunt (25% with 250 skill, iirc), you put on (higher_aggro + 1) points of aggro. So tanking isn't that easy here :).

Rampage is a little different here in that ramp will take 2 people here vs the 1 it took on live.

You wont be lost on SoD, but things are different.

The raid mechanics are basically the same. Enchanters have a few more utilities on raids here than they did on live. Wizards are far ahead of any other class on DPS ( some nearly twice the top rogues on server ). If you want to make a knight, SK is far superior, paladins are lacking in the high end.

Monks tank quite well on SoD, far better than they did on live.

CH chains are limited to 3 clerics per tank ( use 4 clerics and you'll be at your bind point soon enough =P )

hm.. other than that.. have fun :).. SoD is a far better game than live imo

The basics are generally the same. Everything is functioning for the most part. SoD uses AA's up tilll Plane of Power.

Aggro is a lot more unforgiving here. Proximity gets you more base aggro then actually attacking a mob. If you pull a mob/s they WILL go after anyone near the puller even if they never touched it unless the puller or someone puts some more aggro on it.

Ex. Monk fd's 3 mobs, tank shoots one pulling the pack, the mob that was shot attacks the tank, the other 2 mobs run past the tank to the raid and start attacking clerics/healers.

Which leads to SoD's "advanced mob AI" which basically means if I mob can cast spells he will turn from the MT and cast them at any clerics or high threat PC's on it's hate list.

Raids are balanced for a maximum of 36 people and no encounter should last more then 5-10 minutes.

....and be on your best behavior. You will get banned here much faster then you will on live.

Dont let them scare you, the raid tactics are indeed different, but things like positioning, LoS, Rampage, etc are pretty much the same with a few minor changes.

High-end raiding is alive in well, with a diverse group of 'uber guilds' instead of the normal 1 end-all-be-all guid like you see on live servers.

Though there are some spawns that you have to get to before other guilds do, there's enough content out there to share.

It's easier to get banned here, than on live, because wiz (the admin), and team, actualy cares about the integrety of the game, as opposed to sony. ;)

Also, nameing policy is very much inforced on this server. Be warned ;p
