I'm new to both sod and everwuest so wondering what would be the best race to start off with. i'm used to mage/ ranged characters and never realy been a big fan of meelee chars...any help will be greatly apricated.

High-elf Magician
Dark-elf Necromancer
Erudite Wizard

Can't go wrong with either one of these as your first character.
You'll make a lot of different characters as you get more involved.

Just bear in mind that Charisma is your primary attribute, not Intelligence. Charisma directly effects enemy resists to your spells, while Intelligence=mana pool.
