Greetings, everyone.

Hello all. I am a 5 year veteran of the original (2000-2005) and I've been playing WoW since, but I've become bored with it. I'm waiting on the patcher (3 hours -- yuck!) and I can't wait to step into this old (new?) world again. I've tried to read every sticky I possibly can and I feel like I've gotten a great deal of information.

Can't wait to play!

Welcome. This Game is FAR different than what you're going to remember (plus it's a whole let better, and the *gasp* GMs are active among the community!)

Well, coming from the WoW community, a community of 13 year old boys would seem more mature. Knowing that I'm going to be adventuring in the old world, but doing new content ... it's very exciting. To me, gameplay is only slightly more important than community and I remember EQL being a HELL of a lot better than WoW's. I'm certain it will be even better here.

I did have one question. I've read as many topics as I possibly can, but I didn't see any information on how quicky one levels on Dalaya as opposed to live. Is it the same speed?

It's a faster rate, and there are considerable xp gains from things like tradeskills and quests as well (I dont remember them being very large on live). It's nice to be able to mix up your game play with other things and still watch the xp bar progress. :p

Excellent. Is questing still like it was on Live? E.g: Do I have to [flag] words to start quests? Also, I couldn't remember if Ykesha was released before LDoN so I didn't install it. Should I? Sorry for the question deluge. Last one. Can I use UI mods from sites like EQinterface on this client?

They zones are listed in order from when they were released. IIRC LoY was before LDoN. But you need to patch up to GoD. That needs to be updated in the starting guide.

Yes, questing is similar here as it was on live as far as the flags go.

UI's can be used from eqinterface. Some are completely compatable, others have to be tweaked a bit. See this sticky for some commonly used UI's.

I don't have GoD. Does this mean I can't play?

You might want to see this thread about why you should eventually get expansions up to and including GoD.

*edit: added link - clearly I fail at raiding and posting on forums at the same time
