Hi all...
I used to play eq and now have just gotten into this private server thing....
everyone says SoD is different...how so? also how many people are on usually?

SoD Wiki will give you all the info you need about SoD. Generally you will see between 200 and 400+ online most times.

Doesn't matter how many people in your house are playing, only rule is that no more then 2 characters can be controlled by the same person. So all 3 of you can 2 box can form a full group. Differences pop up all over the place really, but that post should handle the vast majority of it.

Make sure you look up the adepts! Static mobs with a max engage level that can drop some very useful items for thier level range.

I'd say the economy is going strong, though that is a point of contention at times. Inflation and mudflation are pretty much in control, and there tends to be ample opportunity for low levels to make platinum by selling tradeskill goods to high levels.

If you didn't see this on the wiki, you may want too. Its not comprehensive, but it has a LOT of the quests in the game. Quests are actually worthwhile here, especially at the low end. Good items and enough platinum to get by can be had from most of them.

Also if you are an intelligence caster, based around newport, make SURE to do your newbie quest line. Those things are amazingly funny and have rewards well worth while even for the minor to moderate twink.

nah PEQ is a functioning semi-legit server, but has a way lower player base than SoD.

Is kelethin still a functioning city (with a druid trainer? ) doesnt seem like wood elves can start there....I was hoping to level my druid 1-10 in GFAY

Last I heard its a work in progress. Far more of a city than it was thats for sure. You can still get there via the mansion of portals -> athica -> gfay

I started a WE Druid a while ago and started in Kelethin. The wiki info might be out of date about that city.

Kelethin is a functioning city, but the wiki won't necessarily show that since it's a "new" city - i.e. it has recently been repopulated due to Athica being reclaimed (see lore sections for LOTS more info)
