Going over to EQ2

sopose someone could make a good game out of the poopyness of eq2 but it would take alot of work

BWAAAAAHAHAHAAA.... If you think Live is bad now, wait till you see EQ2, it takes suck to a whole new level..

SWG is just as bad, it's nothing more than a steaming pile of sith. ;0/

No.

Hmm, i dont know what your problem is, guys....eq2 definitely has the best graphics of all the mmorpgs out there, and the gameplay isnt THAT bad. I like especially the tradeskill instances. I already registered at the eq2 emu website, i wonder when they will get it to run.

Personally I am happy Shards of Dalaya isn't going over to EQ2. I think it might have been better for them just to stick with EQ1 instead of making a sequel that doesn't seem to be as big of a hit as the first.

Graphics don't do much for a mmo, imo. Graphics are cool at first, you goo OOOW and AHHH for about 5 minutes. Then if the content stinks no point of playing it.

I'm not sure I see the problem here?

All you have to do is completely rewrite all of the code for SoD to work with EQ2. I'm sure Wiz could throw together his own version of the EQ2 emulator without much trouble.

Honestly, how hard can it be to redesign the game to work with a new UI, new monster/item files, and a new item database? I'm sure we wouldn't run into any of the same bugs that the devs have already painstakenly resolved in the current code.

IMO, the improved graphics of EQ2 easily justify this move.

On a serious note, for anyone who is incapable of detecting sarcasm...

for SoD to go to EQ2 would meen one of two things:

1. The devs rewrite everythign from the ground up, including the custom EQMU that we use for SoD (Wiz costomized it himself). All of the character data, item data, and mob data would have to be redone and put into a format that the EQ2 client can work with. Every bug imaginable would resurface and have to be fixed all over again.

2. The devs would create an entirely new game, unrelated to SoD, based on the EQ2 code.

Since most folks thought EQ2 was a big POS to begin with, I can't see the devs being motivated to undertake such an enormous task, especially when they are making so much progress with the new quests and tradeskills. It is heracy to aks any developer to throw away that much work.

Actually I will like to disagree with LanatirXP, Lineage 2 has superior graphics over EQ2 and with smaller pollygon models, they do their texture and models done right. Now if you could get a feel like SoD has into a Lineage2 emulated server you could have something BIG. But I think that will require alot of work to get the play mechanics to match those found in SoD and EQ1. So far from what I seen from Lineage2 I believe that it has potential, just that noone has been able to create a good server(mostly because most people making L2j private servers are kids). Personally I think that EQ2 is total crap, it is not about having special effects all over and in the wrong places, models with ultra high polly count that will require a huge machine to run and wrong placed texture with extreamly high bump mapping, it is about doing it right like the korean people did with Lineage2.

Playdough dolls kill my erection , however the original woodelf model still makes me feel all mushy and warm on the inside.

I just did. We will not be going over to EQ2, ever.

I'll be sure to quote you on that if EQemu2 ever starts to intrigue Wiz to a point where he wants to switch.

Never is a long long time.

You are most welcome to. :)
