Goblin Ears and Frilakh Tails

Does anyone know if there is a max amount of tails/ears that can be handed in for faction? I've started a shaman and since the faction was so tough on medallions at the high levels I thought I'd give him a head start on faction at his early levels. I've handed in a stack of goblin ears and I didn't notice one faction message. So I handed in some tails and received the same response. I receive the gold and silver but no faction. So I'm still stuck at amiable which is where I was handing in batwings/spider fangs. I'm only level 10.
If there is a cap, is it possible to get ally on Dwarven Essences or only Medallions?

Now, to the second question I asked. Can you get ally with Dwarven Essences? Or, with frilakh tails/fangs/fruit batwings?
