I have been camping sand giants in SWoT for hours and there has been no Glyph of Light drop. The wiki says the drop is possible in Oasis, SWoT, and NWoT. The sand giants in SWoT spawn every 10 mins or so therefore I have killed plenty. I was wondering if there is a placeholder for a special kind of sand giant or if I am even in the right place. Also I have combed the deserts of Oasis and NWoT and have never found a sand giant even with a tracker druid. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like the RNG is kicking your butt =(
If it helps soften the wait, and you haven't done so already, it's totally worth it to be working on the Amice of the Golden Dawn questline while you're there. The Amice itself is A+, and there are a few other rewards and perks for completing the questline including faction you'll want for later very super mega important questing.
Also really dumb question, but are you also hitting the named giant in SWoT? What's-his-face Firesand I think?

Firesand only drops the piece for the monk quest. I killed a fair number of SG's in nwot also, and saw the glyph drop from one of those. But I think any roaming mob ph's for Sg's there. I have yet to see a Sg in oasis though.

glyph of light is definitely way more rare than firesand monk piece, just sayin', as i camped glyph myself long ago and then later camped the monk piece
Ya I killed Firesand a couple of times. He seems to spawn like 1 in 4 if you keep killing sand giants in SWoT. Ironically enough he drops the monk sand or whatever 90% of the time I'd say =/ But no I am usually killing plain ole sand giants, nothing with a name. Also I still have never seen a sand giant in NWoT though many have told me they have seen them in that zone and even one person said you had to kill at ton of wandering mobs until they spawn which sounds unlikely to me but what do I know I haven't even seen one. Also if any monks reading this want to know where the SWoT sand giant spawns in order to force the named Firesand, its near the southwestern corner of the desert section on SWoT near orc tents. just north of a circular sand wall that appears as a grey circle on the map. I am pretty sure only one sand giant spawns at a time.
Edit: I guess the person from the beginners guild was saying the same thing as darksabbath about placeholders for the NWoT sand giants. Maybe I should just kill wandering mobs in NWoT instead.
