Giant Factioning

Recently the Vellious zones were given a shot in the arm, and I have to say overall I really like the change. It has given me a variety of places to not only xp, but faction as well. I have just one suggestion/request regarding the orc teeth that drop in East Waste (as I have not really attempted the scaled npc's to comment on them). Make them drop more frequently, or up the faction that they give per tooth.

Previous to the change to the Vellious zones, the orc fort was pretty much soloable by those of level to be REALLY interested in the teeth (yes level 40's could get some quest gear in SG and 50's in DN, but the fort seemed to be camped primarily by 60-65's). Now, you take a group of 60's-65's to the fort and camp the orcs for 4+ hours and only leave with 4-6 teeth per person. I understand that it's a plus to get xp while camping them, and I hope that that is not the only reason the faction per tooth was not increased with the mobs levels.

I just find it extremely frustrating that after 20+ hours of camping teeth (5 hours camped on Friday, 4 hours camped on Saturday, 4 hours camped on Sunday, and 8 hours camped on Monday) I haven't budged a faction level. After 21 hours of camping the fort I have turned in 29 orc teeth and I am still Amiable. Does anyone have any experience with the scaled mobs that drop the lesser scales that can comment?

I highly regret not camping the fort when it was full of green mobs I could have slaughtered with my pet in 2 minutes and went AFK for coffee and donuts waiting on the resapwns, just to rinse and repeat. :p I hope my post doesn't come accross as a rant, as that is not my intention. As I initially stated, I am very happy with the rest of the changes made to Vellious, and if it comes down to it I am willing to ping all 300 AA in EW working on faction if that is what it takes. :D

The teeth have always been really low faction. I'd go slaughter the camp and get maybe 7 every now and then and it never raised me very far. You would have had to camp it for hours to get bumped up to an appropriate faction level. At 65 your best bet is exping to get scales in WW or DHK. You get loot in the fort too; I think the teeth are a bonus.

Before it took about 4 - 6 hours total to go from Indifferent to ally clearing the orc fort at level 65 when it was all greens. I think they could use a minor drop rate improvement b/c the exp isn't super great and the named drop decent items but the regular mobs are just MC weapons, some pp and junk. However, like Jay said its just a bonus to get exp and faction at the same time now.

Whats drop rate on scales vs teeth? if scales are a bit rarer then its still going to take hours to get a handful of scales for a full group of people. If questing is going to be the only way to improve faction past indiff, can you look into raising faction reward from quests to compensate for losing the ability to farm DHK for faction + armor.

Also, 6-7 teeth per person is actually only 3-4 people since we didnt loot teeth on our bots.

I agree that the teeth have always been really low faction. I also agree that previously it would've taken a few hours to get bumped up to an appropriate faction level.

The point I am making is that NOW we spend 20+ hours with NO bumping of any faction level. Yes, the new loot is nice (we have seen a couple neat pieces drop that we rolled on for our alts), and yes it's nice to get xp while factioning, but hardly our level's place of choice with only 5% ZEM, and other places having much higher ZEM aka faster xp, and nicer drops (IE: Cmal, RSM, FG, EC, Meilech C, Kedge).

As for xping in DHK to farm greater scales, that may be doable for those better equipped such as [insert uber guild name here] members, however, it is not ideal for Revelation at the moment. We are farming teeth so that we can get the faction to turn in our armor to make that more viable. :p Currently, we take 2-3 groups to DHK to armor farm and will see 1-3 greater scales in a 4-6 hour armor farm.

*EDIT: I was just informed that amiable and dubious are much tougher faction levels to get through than the others, so that kinda brightens the light at the end of the factioning tunnel as well. :p

i farmed lesser scales for around ~30 hours as a mage non stop killing from worst faction to get ally with giants here

Just wondering, was that before the WW level boost?

He said lesser scales, so yes. There are dragons in other places than WW, like GD.

I'll have to check out the ones in GD.

Thanks for the suggestions.

On a realted note, in the patch message:

- Added more faction quests for Scale Alliance and Stormhammers.

I hailed everyone I could find in both Stormkeep and Storms Eye, as well as the giant forts in GD and EW, and was unable to find any new quests for faction. Has anyone found these new quests? Are the giants that give the new quests raid targets without * versions?
