General Rant about trusting people

So, havent played this game in a while. A LOOOONG while. Finally, I get the urge to get back on, get my password changed and recovered and all that, only to find the character Id WANTED to play on, lo and behold, was stripped.

Moral of this story : Dont give people your info. Even if you trust them, they may not hold your characters in the same light as you did.

Also, to whoever stripped Skost Biggost, your a dick.
 
Did you try to petition or post in the help section? I'd think that would be the first place to start, and they would most likely try to help you...

Wow, I remember doing maps with Skost a loooooong time ago. Was a good tank.

This sucks, man. Hope you can recover your gear.
 
I'm actually surprised this doesn't happen more often. The server is far too trusting of each other.
I hope you are able to get your gear back, and that you are able to change your password so that no one else can do this to you again.
I'm from an old fashioned world where folks played there own characters and nothing was shared.
 
its a really small community where if you steal/screw over someone your name is ruined quickly so what's the point?

I've seen this happen like 3 or 4 other times and every time the person got their shit restored and the person who took it got jailed/banned. This server has really extensive logs.
 
You should be careful about who you trust, but I wouldn't put much more thought into it than you do irl. Personally I've always been fairly free with my info, and what has bit me more often has been things that I have clearly and obviously not been involved in personally that have still involved a character, rather than things like stripping one. I've still gotten in a modicum of trouble here for those things.

Also what you should start with rather than a general accusatory calling out post on the forums, would be discreet inquiries as to who stripped your character, unless no one is still playing (which is unlikely, there are still people playing from when I started). There is always the off chance it was always a friend who thought the likelihood of you playing was again was nil (I've seen the same situation resolved like 40 times). There is also the possibility they would be able to reimburse you for better gear than you had in the first place. By doing what you did instead, all you have done is possibly make an enemy out of someone who may have been a friend (and/or alerting whoever did to put into action play: No one say shit OMFG ERRYBODY RUN stop snitchin). Don't take that the wrong way, it isn't an admonition. Just general counsel.


Also...I extremely vaguely remember that name. What guilds were you in?

Which now is considered admissible in court as an admission of guilt to an unspecified crime if invoked before actually being both detained and charged, which is circumstantial evidence of guilt enough to cause convictions on its weight alone.

Habeas corpus is way dead in the U.S. The 5th Amedment has been utterly gutted.
