After doing a bit of research on the new patcher the company is implementing soon I am making this post to let people know to start patching to GoD now if you have not already.

The development team is starting to use GoD zones and NPC models which will require patching to GoD. The new patcher being tested by the company will make this much harder. You will need to buy the GOD disks if you don't already have them after the new patcher is implimented.

Just a little bit of forewarning so you know whats up ahead. Be aware that GoD AA's are NOT being implemented as our client will not allow them.

Just out of curosity, Will patching from live not corrupt the eastern coast of the map?
I believe that freeport, ro and oasis are all new maps that wil be overwritten during this process.

It has been awhile since i have seen the files, but it may be the case that the files are renamed to similiar zonenames and will not be modified, but a test might be needed.

When will live release the new patcher? If not already?

Also, will it hurt if I didn't patch to GoD and still be able to play if I have no plans to go to any of the GoD zones?

I posted this a long time ago in some other thread, but I suppose it's time to say it again.

The EASIEST way to play SOD is to install the E Q Platinum edition. I've installed from it many times and I have never patched to live. It all works as far as I've seen. You can pick them up on ebay dirt cheap. Even if you get one with no serial number it doesn't matter, because you don't need it.

Generally it's $10US or less.

The Titanium edition I had issues with on install. I can't recommend that one at all. The platinum edition works great though.

Platinum includes:

Classic and the first seven Expansion Packs: Ruins of Kunark, The Shadows of Luclin, The Legacy of Ykesha, The Scars of Velious, Planes of Power, Lost Dungeons of Norrath, Gates of Discord

Hi Bran, I think you are right here. So saveing the Ro and FP files should be a good idea.

Looking forward to the new models ;)

Yikes, I already updated when I saw this thread. But I have a backup somewhere else luckily. Does someone know which files exactly I need to copy from the backup to my updated version to get the old version of Freeport and desert back? Are there any other zones affected? I remember vaguely they changed Darkwoods and Red sun Peaks as well.

All the old freeport files, etc that went through revamping on EQ Live servers should still be in your EQ directory. Although they are not used, the Live patcher has not (that I know of) been set up to remove these yet.

Just as info, correct me if I'm wrong.

The live patcher does not overwrite these files although it does give you the new ones (not much help for that).

Are you talking the serverside software won't allow it? Or the individual clients? B/c patching up to god should fix that? No?

The worst that'll happen is that a few mobs will appear to be textureless humans instead of their snazzier GoD counterparts.

Really, though, you may as well just patch now while you can, since it doesn't hurt at all (you don't get stuck with new versions of zones or anything lame like that).

Wald said that GoD aa's aren't being implemented. He didn't say whether or not they were working on some other kind of aa abilities.

:what: Without removing or changing current aa's there is no way to "[work] on some other kind of aa abilities."

I thought the current client version was GoD? I looked up a list of client GUI's according to versions and I noticed ours matched up with GoD's. Well I'm glad to see you guys haven't ran out of resources and you're still working on releasing new content, good luck.

I cant honestly say i know much about coding or stuff like that, but would cloning and modifying the AA's be possible? I dont really know why the GoD AA's wouldnt be implemented.. you said the client wouldnt allow it. Would allowing that be a violation of terms with the Company?

wasnt talking about GoD's, ive read the post..

was takling about maybe take out god and put some others...
