Gamma and light sources not working

in the past i was able to use the gamma slider and light sources like summoned shards of the cores would work and brighten things up for me. but some time ago my father had to reformat the computer and after reinstalling the game and such the gamma slider and light sources mentioned before would no longer work as before.

anyone have any idea what could be wrong? i am thinking it may be something along the lines of drivers or something. any help would be appreciated
 
probably not. im no computer know-it-all or anything so i dont know how to exactly but last i recall. i look up my type of graphics card and go to the site and look for the drivers or something right?
 
If you computer was premanufactured, you should first check the the computer company's website for the video drivers. Otherwise go to the GFX card manufacturer's site and download from there.
 
after installing the drivers and such for my card everythinjg is perfectly fine now. thanks for the info Kyeld and this topic is closed!
