Frog companion and adepts

Currently, the frog companion's song (from the Froggy Jar) appears to prevent otherwise appropriate toons from engaging in adepts. I assume this is because the frog is above the max engage, so the song is a buff from someone above the max engage (even though that "someone" is the familiar of a toon below the max engage).

Is this working as intended? The descriptions of adepts I have seen only indicate that players must be below the max engage level; they make no mention of familiars.

You aren't allowed to buff for an adept with players above the engage cap either, so this seems fine to me.

The familiar is a buff (goes into the buff slot) from a toon that is the appropriate level (the toon cemet (a level ago) was attempting to engage icefeather)l. I really don't understand the logic that results in a familiar's level being equivalent to a toon's level, but maybe that is just me being nub (though I really don't think so).

The problem is: the FROG has a level above max engage, and HE pulses his song. So you get a buff (froggy's song of the froglok) from a character above max engage (Froggy) and thus can't engage. Working as intended.

If you re-read the initial post, you can see that I said exactly this. I was just wondering if this was intended, since I don't know of any other clicky that when used by an appropriate toon will make them unable to engage in the adept. (Other clickies/spells like this could exist, but I don't know of them.)

This just seemed odd to me. *shrug*

Did I miss something or has the frog always been blue-con to the bearer ?

At 45, the frog conned red to cemet. I don't know if this has been changed recently.

* directly engaging the adept in melee, range or magical combat;
* buffing a player below the engage cap (the high level player cannot cast buff while the fight is underway and if the low level player has a buff on him cast by the high level player, he will not be able to engage the adept);
* healing the low level player through any means;
* taking any other action that would get the high level player to be added to the adept's hate list.

I don't think it can be made any clearer.

OK nvm I thought the frog level adapted to the bearer. I was wrong. Then it makes total sense that some higher level NPC is buffing you with a song , which makes the adept code trigger. No oddity.

I hope it wasn't intentional, but you omitted the line previous to that list.

This "engage level" is very strict and none of the following actions can be taken by players above the engage level:

The frog companion is a Non-Player Character. Thus, that list does not strictly apply to the frog companion. I'm not saying this is a huge mystery or that there is anything broken here. I was only wondering whether the froggy was intentionally preventing toons from engaging in adepts or if this was an unintended combination between the coding of adept rules and the froggy's level. Saying that there is nothing odd about this situation just strikes me as being disingenuous. (Again, are there any other clickies that prevent an otherwise appropriately leveled toon from engaging in an adept?)

There is nothing odd about the situation. You are using a higher level buff than intended for the encounter. Just because the buff isn't uber, doesn't change the fact that it is a higher level buff, and thus working as intended. If it'd make you feel better we can give the frog a recommended level, but I don't think anyone REALLY wants that.
