Forums now requires user name/pass to browse or is it a bug?

When I click the forums button from main page it pulls up a login box... is this new/intentional?

Also, probably more of a suggestion topic, but is it possible to get the patcher to save progress occasional (or get an exe of patches up to a certain point) or is it a lot of coding? Cause Im trying to get SoD on my laptop and net wont hold up long enough to complete the patching... and when net goes down, patch gives the "Errors encountered during patching" message and dumps all the progress it's made.

It doesn't dump all the progress. For every file it thinks may need to be updated, it first checks the local file to see if it really does need to be updated before downloading it. So, while it indeed starts from the beginning of the list again when you encounter errors, it will not download a file it has previously downloaded successfully.

You should see it very quickly scan through the files it has already downloaded, and slow down again when you hit the files that were not.

No clue about your forum question.

When you made your SoD account, it also asks if you want to make a forum account or just use your SoD login for your forum login also. If it is asking you to login in error, try checking your cookie settings. Most logins are cookie based and if you have cookies off, pop ups off and what not, that could be prompting the login box every time. Some browsers also handle logins differently. If you're using internet explorer, I don't know much about that browser as I never use it.
