So I won this today, hoping to upgrade my mage with something pretty decent. it's bard/ench/mag/wiz/necro usable offhand. unfortunately I can't use it unless I want to lose my MH so the item is 100% useless for me. Is there something in the works to change this or is this going to stay the same?
 
Sadly for it to be considered a true bard instrument (ie: for the slave spell and casting speed AA) it has to take up both hands, at least that is my understanding.

I can understand that, but is there a way to separate it from going 2h on a bard to fitting in offhand on casters without having to remove main hand?

I don't think so but the devs have definitely made the seemingly impossible possible in the past so who knows. My suggestion would be to see if you can get the stats upped a bit to put it more in line with caster 2handers around that tier.

Thanks for the reply. So this isn't a bug and/or not being looked into then? hrmm, I don't think I would ever use this solely as it is now 2 ft just doesn't seem to add up to the loss of focus/stats. I couldn't find much of anything to compare it to as far as other 2h's near the same difficulty of getting aside from.

So what does it look like now? Because as 1handers go I can think of a few things with ft and such on them at low tiers. I've only seen the old version with 100ish mana and no ft though.
 
it's technically a 2hander that fits in the secondary slot.
