Few questions from a beginner!

Hi guys, just joining up. It has been years since I have played EQ, and it still has my heart ... all of these new MMORPG's coming out are pretty and all, but it just doesn't match the content and game play of EQ!

Anyways, on to the questions:

1. There are a lot more expansions out past the Lost Dungeons when looking through the EQ patcher. Will these new zones / items be implemented at some point?

2. There was an expansion that updated all of the graphics at one point in EQ - I do not remember the name of it.... are we able to enable the new models / graphics from that expansion? (it was before Lost Dungeons I believe... might have been velius even, I really don't remember).

3. I see that running multiple clients from a single computer is an option, though not one I will be using. Do many people do this? Will I be denied groups often because people just want to play with their two clients?

Still deciding on characters and all, I'm just excited to play . Looks like it'll be another 6 hours or so until I'm patched up and ready to go.

I look forward to meeting you all.

1. From what I understand, no.

2. Luclin. Yes, Luclin models are available. But they still suck. :p

3. Many people do this (although I believe it is still not a majority). Some people prefer to play their 2 characters. Most however prefer to group, even if they're bringing 2 characters to the group. Note, however, that the server population is nowhere close to live (about 20% that of live when I was playing), so there's not as many people around to group with, and groups will be hard to find at certain times at certain levels.

Welcome, and enjoy the game!

Thanks for the response! Are new items and such still being added though? Content is indeed king! How are drop rates? Are they close to live, or are they increased due to the smaller population?

Another thing is that existing groups often appreciate one player playing one toon, because they expect you to be sharper than some of the people playing two toons. Think of it this way: if your group is really pushing the envelope, there may be times when 6 people playing 6 toons = win, but 3 or 4 people playing 6 toons = wipe. Of course, most of the time that might not be a factor, and yes, there are plenty of sharp people who can play a pair of toons as good or better than others can play one toon.

And as for any of the newer zones being implemented - I certainly am optimistic about the chance to see a select few of them. Heck, isn't the whole Heartland Caverns (Veksar) zone new to SoD?

Yes, items are being added all the time. Realize, however, that the content is COMPLETELY different from live. Different mobs, different items, different game mechanics, even different zone connections to a large extent. In most peoples' opinion here the content is MUCH better than it was on live. Storylines make sense and play a part in the game here, unlike live.

As for drop rates, I can't really compare the two, other than the staff make a huge effort to keep things here much better balanced than they were on live.
