Faction Rules of Non-Aggression

Just wanted to point out an inconsistency in faction rules/mechanics. The Silver Crown and Black Scale tell you not to attack the opposing faction or you'll be punished (and you are). Meanwhile, those factions go ready to attack when you complete the opposing faction's quest lines, and attack you even when they con green. That makes absolutely no sense at all.

Either we should be able to attack the opposing faction without penalty, or the faction should never go beyond dubious. The third and final option is to make it so hostile npcs of the opposing faction never actually attack, though they are "ready to attack." Kind of like the way NPCs in Mansion of Portals are still ready to attack when you have portal passage, yet do not. The way it is now makes no sense at all, and is a huge annoyance. Especially when green con NPCs that would never otherwise attack you, are hard coded to attack anyone of the opposite faction, a complete contradiction of the stated faction rules.

My monk is Blackscale and SC mobs con scowl, but I thought the green-cons didn't attack me unless I sit down near them or stand right on top of them (just like all other green KOS mobs). Could be wrong but that is what I remember.

What is the penalty for killing opposing factions? I've done it quite a few times and not noticed a problem.

When you kill them instead of only saying You lose faction with the faction you killed, it says you lose faction with your own faction as well. Something like "because you disobeyed the rules of your faction."

I just came back after an 8 year break and noticed green con black scale mobs attacking my 65 paladin everywhere I went. Finally, not remembering the "rules", I just started killing them, not knowing it was a bad thing. A few weeks later I decide to work on my silver crown quests, to go from Corporal to Sergeant I had to do EVERY previous Silver crown quest to FULL completion in order to acquire enough faction to be promoted. The only exception was the treant quest, which I did not want to do because its a negative alignment hit (but was about to do it anyway). Not until my very final 10/10 turn in did I get enough faction for the promotion. That includes all 3 faction quests Othmir/Aviak/Centuar (getting Ally), as well as every other quest that was available to me. All because, (and I'm assuming) I killed a few black scale at some point because they attack me everywhere I go.

Just killed a whole bunch of SC mobs in Goblinskull and it did not affect my Blackscale faction in any way. Not sure what's up

The factions in heartlands tell you not to kill the other factions. Their outposts in other regions somehow must have missed that memo...

Thats good to know it only effects your faction in heartland. I just finished doing those quests on my necro and was the reason for my alarm. Either way, its still silly both factions say not to kill the other, but then attack you every chance they get. Also that only makes my experience with Silver crown progression even stranger. I've been told that a lot of people were able to skip certain quests like the ambassador quests (getting ally faction), yet I had to do all of them to achieve Sergeant.

Killing opposite faction in heartlands hurts your faction. So the more opposite faction huys you killed there, the more quests you had to do later.

My guess is that it was made that way so dudes didn't kill all the faction camps for the hell of it. Just my thought.
