Erudin - Defender Sash Quest

I have petitioned this twice. I'll try posting here for help.

My main Zartax had gotten to this point in the quest.

You say: I will help you.
Lieutenant Emorn says, 'Let's see...The river runs through from north to south. From Anval's fishing spot, the silk must have drifted downstream. Investigate the riverbank and see what you can find out. Return to me anything you find.'

I went and found the leader and killed him. He had "a torn silk dress" item on him.

When I tried to loot it it said, Error: Corpse out of Range ... So I moved around the corpse for the next few minutes trying different angles to loot the item. Still receving the Error: Corpse out of Range message.

... This is not the Corpse out of range message I receive if I try to loot a mob from 100 feet away. I was standing on top of him.

Suffice it to say, I tried and can not start the quest over and I had to watch my quest item be stolen by Lord Rott.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

There have been several issues with this Quest. Most folks are unable to find the mob and are unable to repeat it. I ran the wrong way and when I finally found the correct spot, no mob in site. I'm big on questing, but eventually gave up and went on with other quests and exp'ing.
