*** ERROR: wait_message(), no message, bailing

  • I can get eqw to open up to the server select screen, but when I click play it goes back to company logo and displays an error 1017 next time I get up to server select.

I've tried all the fixes in the stickied posts, including:
    • changing datarate.txt
    • deleting eqclient.ini
    • deleting eqw.ini
    • deleting eqlsPlayerData.ini
    • deleting eqlsUIConfig.ini
    • repatch all
    • attempting to patch to live (which failed)
    • manually downloading the patch files and copying them directly into the sod folder
    • going back to an archived copy of my SoD folder before it stopped working by copying it to another computer
    • UPDATE: purchasing a copy of Titanium and reinstalling, and then doing a full patch using sodpatcher

    Here's what I know:
    • Everything I posted in the questionaire
    • I get the same error in dbg.txt no matter if I use Windows Firewall, ZoneAlarm, or no firewall at all.
    • from dbg.txt: **** ERROR: wait_message(), no message, bailing...
    • this dbg.txt error always comes after a 10 second pause.
    • It always takes 10 seconds to go from pressing PLAY on the server select to go to company logo and ESRB rating.
    • cmd->ping shardsofdalaya.com results are usually 1100-1500 ms but sometimes 600-900 ms (when I was able to connect before the 24th of November
    • inability to connect started 24 November, was able to connect when ping was under 1000ms before that.
    • a patch went through on the 24th of November
    • same results no matter which ISP.
    • sometimes wait_message() receives a message WorldRPServer message: server name before the "bailing" line, sometimes it doesn't.
    • same results on two computers.

Do you have several ISPs? ;o

And try manually downloading patch files from Xardon's post and throw them into your directory and see what happens (don't patch after this!)
And what has changed on your side?
Have you tried going to a friend's house and connecting through his Internet connection (of course hard if you don't have a laptop)?

Otherwise let me know, and I'll see if Xardon can do some diagnostics.

I could try that. I'll let you know how it turns out.

See above.

ok

Have you tried from another computer? And I tried getting Xardon to look at it, but he's sort of slow and all :keke:

Where are you trying to play from, location wise in the world?

Have you tried rebooting your cable modem/DSL modem/and or router/hub/firewall if you have one?

Have you tried opening up the proper ports in your router/hub/firewall?

PM me with those as well as your current IP Address.

updated.. reinstalled titanium and repatched.. still no good. might have to wait till I'm in good ping range.
