Ok, first off, like to say howdy all lol i'm brand new here and looking forward to joining you all. However I'm having some problems. Ok, I've reinstalled all my Eq discs, I had the Eq Evolution disc set and installed it. Ran my updates for Eq live took about 30 mins.

Then I came here and got the files.zip file from the main site and unzipped it into my Eq folder. My host.txt file is correct, I checked all that. And I work fine, went through my options selected my models and all. Logged into the server fine, loaded it all up. Got to the character select screen and began to create my charecter. (A gnome necromancer) Then once I got everything to where I wanted, I press next, get the pick religion screen. Press next, and I get the location screen, then I press next and I get a window that says.

"Welcome to Underhill, the great mechanical city of the Dwarves and gnomes!...ERROR: String not found (2053)"

I also get a window after pressing next that says

"Name has been rejected or you tried to make a Vah Shir. Please choose another name."

Now I dont' know if the race isn't alowwed or what cause with the evolution disc pack I get shards of Velious soo.

I was just wondering what this problem is, and how I can fix it, any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Oh by the way, I almost forgot, I ran the Eqw.exe program and selected Eqgame to load into the game. I believe that was the right way to do it, but if that is what is causing my error then please tell me what I do instead.

sounds like you did everything right.. make sure when you run EQW.exe that the "Run Patch Program" box is UNchecked..

Also, defrag .. I know it sounds weird to have it cause a problem like this.. but after installing 3+ Gigs of data it is likely fragmented some.. that can cause many different adverse affects. Defrag it, then try to make a toon.

BTW.. if you selected a large number of models, you may have an issue there too. I recall a problem from a while back with not being able to click on the NEXT.. you had to hit return instead.. not sure why or what problems it may cause.. just something to keep in mind.
