error Attempting to connect to Patch Server...

HI

I am new here, im trying to play on your server but I havent been able to connect. I tried following the instructions, I created an eqemu account, authed it.. have my login key, I created a winters account enterd that key..

I installed EQ and all expantions, patched up with live.. useing this in the host file

and copied over the fix, patcher & help.. when I run the patcher I get this error.

Attempting to connect to Patch Server...
Error: Username/Password was not accepted for file transaction.
Please send a email to [email protected] concerning this error.

I have gone through the forums and I see others have had this problem, but never said how they fixed it.

and I dont see any were in the patcher options to put your login info.

and I read in the rules about the command to type on first login.. but I dont see where to do that. Im guessing when you first connect to the server? but cant get that far

When I try to connect to the game right now as is I get timed out error

Try again in a while, if you're having same problem as me, you will have a hard time to connect (and stay connected) from time to time. I don't know if it's my ISP, router, a program running in the background, login server or server. It would make the most sense to me if it wasn't login server or server it self, since when I get trouble with one I get trouble with both. I'm still playing around with my router to fix it, but I'm begining to think it's either ISP or a program. I'm probably going to do a reformat in 3 weeks time (after a big assignment) which will give me more insigt in the problem. If logging on at another time of day doesn't fix it for you, it's probably not the same problem.
 
I tried installing EQ-WR on a friend's computer and he usually get the "Can't connect to the logins server" or something like that. He just got the bad username/password when at the patcher screen a couple of times. What I did was close and re-run :)

Btw, he's got a router (I think he checked ports were opened), no firewall, I closed every progrem on the system tray (even the motherboard driver :D) and it always stayed trying to connect to the login server and then error'ing about it. Does anyone have any clue? Is that your same problem, Mr. Guest?

yah exact same problem I am having.. tried it several times last night.. and many times again today.. I have disabled my fire wall before trying to connect. Also I did a fresh install of EQ and this time only did EQ classic.. both trying WR patch before fully patching on live and after patching on Live.. still same error

In the end my friend had not configured his router correctly, and he had some ports closed. Now he can play.
 
Woot games working now.. I see he put the patch files in the DL section now.. I got those and now all is good..
