Error 1017

I'm new here, and yes, I did use the search function. I don't think I found one that describes my problem specifically.

However, my error 1017 isn't permanent. If I try to log in for about 5 minutes, it'll let me in eventually. However, whenever I zone (specifically, I finished the dream and it said "Loading, please wait..") it goes back to the server screen. After that, I have to have another go at logging in. I'm not sure what could cause such an intermittent error, besides server overload. There were 160 people online, and by the time I got booted there were about 140.

I have a fast connection (upwards of 12mb at all times), and a pretty decent computer (I can play stuff like BF2, Max Payne 3, etc at high settings). Is it just the server is too full or something?

If its not your connection it could be this



1) You need Titanium to play, as Trilogy does not have enough expansions.

Once you have a fresh titanium patched and ready, then post again if the problem persists.

I've been trying to get on, but I keep getting error 1017. I've read that it's due to latency issues (which there are none on my side, I have at least 14mbps). I've disable my AVG, disabled my firewall, re-installed my EQ Titanium and patched it through the SoD patcher cleanly.. Nothing. :(

Meaning this information is useless for your situation since you have titanium.

I will continue to try to look for a solution for you.

Also i would try running a trace route to the server if its allowed to see if the connection is being lost mid transit to the server. If so it might be your isp. I do not have the server IP handy with me at work, and the admins might not like players running trace routes on the server so you might need to research these areas if I cannot find the information.

Also another less tech savvy test would be to take your pc to another network if possible and try there. IF you have a laptop this is easy just find a restaurant with a wireless hotspot or go to a friend house.

Disable all firewalls, and if you run AVG, try turning it off if and see if the error persists. AVG has a bad habit of turning that back on when it updates, which it just did recently. Also, what version of windows are you using?
 
Post a copy of dbg.txt (Windows Search should pull it up in the EQ folder) after logging into the game, getting 1017, and then closing the game after getting 1017.

That should show us diagnostic information to troubleshoot further.
