Error: 1001

This error means that for whatever reason you can't connect to the login server.

Test 1:
Does your eqhost.txt look like:

[Registration Servers] 
{ 
"209.172.32.20:5999" 
} 
[Login Servers] 
{ 
"209.172.32.20:5997"
}

If not, please redownload the patch files (Or once patcher gets up and running: Repatch).

If your eqhost does look like that and you're still having problems, there's a rather large possibility that your firewall/router is block/not forwarding the ports needed, meaning you have to open up the ports. See your router/firewall manual for this.
Note: At some colleges/campuses you need to talk to the IT counselor/RA on your floor.

my eqhost is correct. do you know which ports need to be opened so i can talk to the IT guy to see if they can be opened up ?
