Did you use the search function to find similar 1001 error topics? There are about 3 pages worth. Some of the common suggestions/fixes are pretty well summed up in a previous post by Xardon:

Error 1001 means you're not establishing a connection to the logon server. You should try a few things:

First: Repatch all from the SoD patcher.
Second: Reboot your computer.
Third: Reboot your Router, Cable Modem, Firewall (if hardware)
Fourth: Delete your "files.txt" and "eqhosts.txt" and try re-patching all again.

Outside of those, the only other thing you can try that others have done to fix it, is re-install the Game from scratch.

You can also try posting your dbg.txt file for the more tech savy to pick apart. If you try all of these suggestions and you still get the error, it might be an ISP/router issue.

Sometimes this problem can be fixed by going into your network connections folder and disabling any connections you are not using.
