Error 1001, unable to connect to authentication server

Hey! So I've wanted to get back into SoD recently. I downloaded the F2P Everquest from Steam, ran and updated the SOD patcher. The problem I'm facing is in authenticating with my Station name and PW. It attempts to connect to the server, but then I get error 1001.

Windows Firewall is disabled, so it's not that. Are there any required ports that I could try opening on the router? I did some searching in the forums but couldn't find any info on that.
 
Couple of things to check:
  • You are trying to log in with a registered SoD account?
  • If you're not using an EQEmu account you don't have "Use EQEmu For Login Server" checked (and vice-versa if you are using an EQEmu account)?
  • Client is patched - i.e., that login screen has a big "Shards of Dalaya" splashed across it?
If its none of those:
  • Restart your computer
  • Try Run > cmd then [Enter] > ipconfig -release [Enter] > ipconfig -renew
  • Afaik the login server uses port 65293 -- you can check your own ports via - Run > cmd then [Enter] > netstat -b -a

Yes, account is Klaudian, though if it's been deactivated due to inactivity I'm not sure. Would I reach out to admin's for that?

I don't see an option for EQEme, I do see one for EQW, but that's for windowed mode from what I read. Either way, no, I don't have an EQEmu account.

Client patched and SOD is across the screen.

Tried opening port 65293 for TCP and UDP, no luck. still getting cannot connect to the Everquest server. Any other ideas?
