So i am 2 boxing, and after 5-10 mins my computer will freeze (meaning i can't alt - tab, anything, everything stops). I have to manually turn off the PC. Also, I noticed the other night, my PC fans sped up. Like they were working too hard. but i watch my temperatures and the vid card is at a steady 45C, also at 45C when not doing anything. PC runs fine when not playing EQ though, whats my problem guys? anyone know? Thanks in advance.

More information would be nice. System stats and if you are using the EQnice download from front page? Perhaps you are not using the latest directx for your system or video drivers? Try a spyware scan to be safe? Just a few suggestions to help everyone figure out where to go from "hey this does not work, fix it"

i use EQW to 2 box yes, i also use EQPN, and it doesnt matter it crashes with or without EQPN. systems specs. im using an ATI video card 4850, dual core 2.5ghz, it seems more like a game issue not a system issue to me. every other game i run works 100% fine. was just wondering if anyone has had this same issue or not.

Oh i havent really tried to run 1 EQW client, cus sometimes it takes 2 hrs to crash, sometimes 2 mins. like i played last night for 5 hrs, then i crashed on a huge pull :p its just really inconvenient to crash at bad times :(

Leland, I had the same problems before. Didn't matter my EQW setup or boxing status or what not... Whenever my computer (or in this case, from what I could tell, my vid card) was subjected to alot of info at a time, it put it at a greatly increased risk for crashing (lots of mobs on a pull, or zoning or what have you).

I had a decent video card (geforce 7600) but since I had alterior problems with it (sometimes it would take 10 boots to get it to actually send a signal to the monitor) I upgraded a bit and got the latest generation (9800 iirc) of the geforce card and I haven't had a single problem since.

Not exactly the EASIEST solution, but it worked for me. Though, just about everyone on these forums knows more than I do, so, hopefully someone can possibly give a better solution.

Are you able to use control-alt-delete? If even that doesn't work to get control back, it's possible a video driver issue or even a hardware conflict of some kind.

If it's just the client freaking out and not releasing control, control-alt-delete should do something even if EQ is frozen.

I'm guessing alt-f4 won't help either.

Do you have a reset button so you can reset without power cycling? If the reset button normally works but isn't working when EQ freezes, it would suggest it's a deeper issue.

i had a problem like this years ago on live. it would crash after a little while of playing and was random on the time also. my final fix was it was bad memory and i only found that out after actually running linux on the machine and realizing that the memory was causing a horrible problem with linux. i fixxed the memory problem and never had an issue again with linux or eq (on winxp).
just something to think about. make memory not dual channel or even take a stick out, try memtest. i am not sayin this is YOUR problem but for anyone that has a problem its a quick check to see if it fixxes your problems.
